We loved walking up to the birds singing and the beautiful sky. The place offers a great view. The Glossy Black Restaurant was delicious and within walking distance.

As the name implies, the morning sun rising over the expansive lake system of American River is spectacular. The location is ideal for exploring the eastern and middle sections of Kangaroo Island. The accommodation is expansive, comfortable and has everything you will need for an extended stay.

A Pleasant Accomodation In A Great Area
Our property was on the first floor which was quite steep to drive into as it is located on a hill. It has great view and the place itself was overall very pleasant to stay in. It has all the amenities you need like plates/stove/cups/etc. It was very well insulated due to the owner's passion in energy efficiency (they even documented how they did it - makes great reading I assure you) so it was very comfortable despite it was rainy and cold that day/night. The overall size of the accomodation was relatively small but cosy. There are 2 bedrooms of average size and we had a nice sleep overnight. The place is a little bit hard to find given there was no phone reception on this island (unless you are with Telstra) so the instruction on how to get there by the owner needed to be read meticulously. The area is not far from the centre of the activity within the island which is Kingscote. This is handy as you don't want to be too far away to be remote (like West End of the Island) in case you need to go to General Store or Fuel. Overall a nice place to stay and would consider coming back again if we visit the island again.

Unit well stocked with commodities.Some issues with verandah floor boards and non working toaster which were fixed immediately on reporting.Outside area needed some attention.Water pressure slow.I found it overpriced but very comfortable.
