Anderson Island is the Southmost Island on the Puget Sound, accessible by boat or a 20-minute ferry from Steilacoom. Once you arrive you will begin to explore the two freshwater lake, trails, beaches and more. There are two restaurants on the island and a general store for your use.

Here are just a few of the activities you can enjoy during your stay:

Kayaking – Explore approximately fifteen miles of shoreline, bays and coves or make a crossing to Key Peninsula, Nisqually Reach, or circumnavigate other islands. Bring your own boat and equipment. We can assist with your trip planning.

Hiking – Try a relaxing one-mile nature hike on the Jane Cammon Trail, or a longer hike to Andy’s Marine Park for a little beach combing. A short trail at the historic Johnson Farm will take you through the cool woods and by a quiet pond. Our newest trail, Jacob's point, 2.4 miles and offers water and mountain views, picnic tables along the way; beach access and a restroom near the trail's end. Bring a picnic and spend the day. (Check out the Anderson Island Parks website for more details.)

Lakes – Swimming at The Old Swimming Hole for guest use.

Parks*– There are several beautiful parks on the island, some with play equipment, and The Old Swimming Hole for swimming.

Golf* – Beautifully maintained par three, 9 hole course. Paved cart paths. Club and cart rentals available. Call to reserve.

Geocaching - Go online, download coordinates to your GPS or phone, or print written clues, and explore the island, looking for treasures. There are over 50 geocaches on the island, just waiting to be discovered.

Bicycling – Country roads, quiet neighborhoods, little traffic. Many areas have hills, but there are some flatter areas as well.

Shopping – The Island General Store provides an excellent range of food products, fishing gear, and hardware, as well as a deli and souvenir clothing. The historic Johnson Farm has original buildings, community gardens, a gift shop and museum, open only on weekends April through mid-December, or by appointment in off season.
Events – Come join us for some real traditional local ambiance. We are just “real folk” who enjoy having fun. Some of the annual events include:

Fire Department Pancake Breakfast (Memorial Day Weekend)
Farm Days (Memorial Day Weekend)
Salmon Bake (July 4th Weekend)
Community Fair (Labor Day Weekend)
Concert at the Farm
Friday Share & Care at the Community Center (Lunch, games, conversation - free)

Restaurants – The Riviera Lakeshore Restaurant is a full-service facility, open daily from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Winter days and hours are limited. Check for availability. They frequently feature live music on weekends. The Island Café serves breakfast and lunch daily, and dinners three nights a week. This is where the locals gather for a good cup of coffee and visiting. There is also a deli at the Island General Store and a few breakfast items, snacks.

R&R – Catch up on your reading, take a nap, enjoy the sounds of nature and the quiet peacefulness that will surround you. Watch for deer, raccoons, squirrels, piliated woodpeckers, eagles and other birds. On a clear night, go outside and look up at the millions of stars overhead. The island is truly a retreat from the pressures and hectic lifestyle of the city.

Off Island Events and Activities: If you would like to visit the sites or attend events in the Tacoma area, ferry service is frequent. Just be sure to plan your return so you don't miss the last boat!

Fika Hus offers the perfect retreat, located just steps away from the Riviera Golf Course and the picturesque Josephine Lake. The Riviera Restaurant and lakefront amenities are within easy reach, while several parks and the ferry to Steilacoom are just minutes away.

Step inside this sun-filled space to find a welcoming open-plan living area with vaulted, pine-paneled ceilings, sleek hardwood floors, and plenty of room to unwind with friends. Savor a quiet cup of coffee on the deck each morning as you soak up the tranquil surroundings, and the kids play on the swing set. The chef in your group will relish the well-appointed kitchen with stainless steel appliances and ample counter space. The round window-front table provides a perfect spot for meals, or you can dine alfresco on the deck while soaking in the natural beauty around you.

For your convenience, Fika Hus comes equipped with free WiFi and a washer/dryer. When it's time to wind down after a day of exploration, relax in the central AC if the weather is warm and catch up on the latest movies on the large sectional. End your day back out on the deck, toasting to your good luck at discovering such a lovely and peaceful escape.
Getting to Anderson Island is easy with the ferry that runs multiple times a day to and from the island. To ensure a stress-free journey, we recommend arriving at the ferry terminal at least 30 minutes before departure. Please note that the ferry can only accommodate 54 vehicles, so it's a good idea to plan ahead and reserve a spot in advance. Once you arrive on the island, it's just a short 8-9 minute drive to our peaceful cabin. You'll have plenty of parking space available, including two spots in the carport. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the scenic ride over to Anderson Island – your peaceful retreat awaits!

Beautiful but diappointing
It would have been very good if we & the local contact have made the TV work. Also, the place needs some TLC. Closet doors do not work well, a blind insides;liding glass door is broken, all wooden banisters are full of stickers, ara rug was curled causing tripping, etc.

Loved Fika House
We had the best time staying on Anderson Island at Fika House. Very inviting space and loved the yard and fire pit. Beautiful surroundings, super comfy and loved the kitchen space. Will definitely be back when it’s warmer to explore more of the island.

Lovely little home— pictures don’t do it justice!
This property is so sweet and lovely. From the pictures, the play structure looks to be a bit small, but it’s already quite large and our kids (7, 8 and 10) spent hours playing in it! The large, flat yard was great, and the fire pit was perfect. The interior is updated, with the kitchen island being much larger than the pictures show, as well. And the spa bathroom (particularly the tub!) was heavenly. There were just a few things left untidied (the linen closet and just corners of the floor), but otherwise things looks great. The beds were all very comfortable (the main bedroom bed was a bit soft for our liking, but still comfortable), and the furniture was cozy and roomy. Anderson Island is a haven and such a quaint, beautiful place to visit. Thanks for the stay!
