More than expected
Bear River Winery was an amazing getaway. The room had all the amenities we needed, the view was unmatched, the wine was better than the larger wineries in NS, and Darren was a fabulous host! There are many unique features to this winery I wasn’t aware of until Darren gave us a tour. And the town of Bear River was a lovely place too. I highly recommend a stay at Bear River Winery. We will be back next year!

Peaceful stay at a beautiful small winery.
Bear Creek Vineyard was perfect for a short stay in the Digby - Annapolis Royal area. We were greeted by our host Daren as though we were old friends and received a personal tour of this unique, charming winery. Our tasting experience on the terrace overlooking the beautiful vineyard and valley was heavenly. Our guest room was very clean, comfortable and nicely appointed. I would recommend this as a great couple’s getaway. Also, the wine is very good too!

Bear River winery is a must!!
The property was beautiful with amazing sunsets. The owners were a delight!! Very friendly, & hospitable. Our room had everything we needed. They made our stay very comfortable and their wine is refreshing and very tasty. We'll be back for sure.

Warm, responsive hosts. Comfy bed, great water preasure in the shower, and chilled wine waiting in the fridge. Adirondack chairs beneath the oaks was a wonderful, magical spot.

This was such a beautiful setting very private with amazing views..our hosts were such lovely people and they made us feel welcome from start to finish. Our room had everything we needed and it was spotlessly clean. We really enjoyed our 3 day visit and would love to visit again in the fall season. We would not hesitate to highly recommend this unique property and the owners Dean and Sue to other travelers. You will not be disappointed.

Tranquil setting
A lovely accommodation. Great views of the vineyard and surrounding hills make for a very relaxing getaway. The hosts were so welcoming…we enjoyed our tour of their vineyard. We would definitely return if we're ever in the area again.

Great experience
There's nothing not to love about Bear River Vineyards. The winery is very scenic and tucked into an interesting spot that is off the beaten track and yet very close to many spots worth touring. Our hosts were gracious and accommodating an have created lovely wines. The accommodations are very comfortable and cozy. Loved having the winery to ourselves after the tasting room closed.

We are conscious of the fact that our September visitors are subjected to a bit more hustle and bustle about the vineyard as we keep the birds away from the grapes and prepare for harvest. It’s nice to know that you enjoyed your stay!

Beautiful room with a view
We totally enjoyed our two night stay! The room was tastefully decorated, clean and well equipped. The view of the grape orchard is spectacular and there are beautiful chairs to sit and enjoy the view. We didn’t get a chance to experience a wine tasting due to our schedule but we will most definitely be back. Very enjoyable stay!

Excellent cozy accommodations!
Wonderful place to stay… Darren and Susan are super friendly hosts who made us feel right at home. Convenient parking and extremely clean accommodations with a comfortable bed and good shower. Close to the little town of Bear River, and only about 20 minute ride to the quaint little town of Digby. We got a free bottle of excellent wine, and a very detailed tour of the winery and it’s operations from Darren. He’s a super kind, friendly, and a gracious person! We highly recommend and will definitely stay there again! It has been the highlight of our month long trip! Thanks Darren and Susan for everything!

Amazing
Hosts were very welcoming and we felt at home. The accommodations were clean and comfortable. The property was fantastic, we enjoyed every minute we were there. The local pizza place is a definite gem, and you won't be disappointed. We received a wine tasting and tour and were so pleased to learn some history about the property and their wines. We can't wait to plan our next trip with Bear River as the main destination.

The room we stayed in was speechless I can’t put it it on words how we felt staying there .The owners of this place made us fell at home and their property .If you have a Anniversary and you love wine please stay there ,you will not regret it .Our 30 th Anniversary was spent there and our favourite spot was their oak tree .Thank you so much for your kindness ,your hospitality was outstanding .A place me and my wife will never forget .See you soon Bear River winery

Such a great find!
The accommodation is wonderful (the best bed ever!). The winery is spectacular and the hosts couldn't be more hospitable. We stayed two nights and enjoyed every minute. We would highly recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway in an idyllic setting!

Outstanding - it’s a small, self-contained room, but exactly as shown in the listing. Sue and Darren could not have been nicer. Since they’re right on the property communication was very easy. The vineyards are beautiful and the setting is wonderful. Be sure to make use of the chairs situated in the orchard beneath the 2 great oaks - a wonderful place to sip wine on (for us) a very hot day. Sue did our tasting and was excellent - we really liked their whites and the roses, but didn’t taste the reds or do the vineyard tour with Darren (because of the heat we declined). Our number one find from Bear River was the botanical gardens at Annapolis Royale - don’t miss them! Second was Frank and Dora’s retro burger and shake place down the road - a trip in itself. Finally you cannot really count on the village of Bear River for dinner (at least in our experience) - go to Digby for the scallops. A great time!

Wonderful place to get away from it all. Room was excellent and the winery is amazing. The owners, Darren and Susan go out of their way to make sure you are happy. Wine tasting and tour were fabulous and informative. Local and up and coming artist Gregory also works in the winery. One of their wines has his artwork on one of the labels. Everyone at the Vineyard is amazing. We stayed for two nights and will definitely be back. Great location to get to other places around Digby. The winery is 10 miles away from Digby but when you are at the winery, it feels like you are a hundred miles away. Quiet and breathtaking views.

Best Little Gem in Digby area
I am so glad we happened upon this listing! It was the best stay of our Nova Scotia travels. What better way to unwind than at a peaceful winery. Susan and Darren are the best hosts and their room is beautiful overlooking the winery. Would definitely stay here again😊 If you need relaxation, this place is where you need to be❤️

We stayed here on the last night of our vacation. This place is beautiful. The owners were great. They provided us with a private tour and wine tasting. The room is nice, with a fridge, and comfortable bed. You can look out the window on to the vineyard. It was a great ending to a great trip! I highly recommend Bear River Vineyards!

Bear River Winery VRBO Nova Scotia
The Bear River Winery VRBO is situated in a beautiful valley overlooking the Bear River near Digby Nova Scotia. In addition to the very pleasing setting, the location is perfect for a couple who want to relax or get out to explore the Bay of Fundy side of Nova Scotia. As a bonus, the wines are excellent, and the hosts are friendly, gracious and very helpful. We would definitely stay at this property again.

Awesome Stay
This is a small family-run vineyard. The owners were amazing to talk to and we thoroughly enjoyed our tour of the vineyard and wine making facility. The wines that they produce were first-rate and we bought a number of bottles to bring home as they are not available at the NSLC, only available onsite or through the website. There is no restaurant onsite which provides incentive to visit the local area. We ate one night in Digby and the other night in Bear River itself. Great weekend and the owners are excellent.

Perfect spot
Location, location, location! Gorgeous views in a beautiful quiet place. To have the outside space to yourselves once the vineyard is closed is a great experience. The wine tasting and tour is really memorable and interesting. Comfortable bed with good facilities.

Most accommodating property owners Darren and Susan- and a great winery tour - including the tasting of fine wines. Beautiful views over the vineyard. The peepers in the nearby pond lulled us to sleep :) Highly recommended!

Had a wonderful stay at Bear River Winery - thank you Darren and Leslie. Guest room was clean and very roomy and equipped with everything we needed (and even a bottle of their award winning wine.) Beautiful patio overlooking the vineyard (made a perfect setting for enjoying some wine.) However, what made this visit extra special was the opportunity we had to experience first hand, grape harvesting and wine production. During our visit Darren and crew were busing harvesting their grapes, crushing them and starting the fermentation process. Several times during our stay we had an opportunity to observe and learn (we did try to stay out of the way). Everyone was willing to take the time to explain what was happening despite being very busy. We really did receive the VIP wine making tour. Highly recommend this property as it offers a truly unique experience.

We stayed one night in the guest suite and couldn't have been happier with it. Very clean, comfy bed, air conditioned, wifi, etc. The hosts were so lovely - price included a bottle of wine, a tour and wine tasting. What a spectacular view! You have the sun until it sets. The outdoor seating is very comfortable - bring your own snacks. The wine is very, very good - very pleased with this little get away!

Paradise- what a magical stay!
We just LOVED this beautiful little gem in Bear River, Nova Scotia. What a wonderful experience staying in the vineyard. Darren and Susan are the salt of the earth. We had a personalized tour with wine tasting. And were treated to a special bottle of vino. Their wines are amazing as is the vineyard location, the sunsets, the vistas and these passionate great hosts. Will definitely return!

Unique, Authentic Nova Scotian Experience
My husband and I had an absolutely delightful one-night stay at this gorgeous property. Darren and Susan are exceptional hosts. We thoroughly enjoyed our private tour of the winery and the wine tasting. The guest suite is truly lovely and very comfortable. (The bathroom is gorgeous!) In the morning we took our tea and locally roasted coffee that Susan had thoughtfully portioned for the in-suite coffee maker (with the cream left for us in the fridge!) down to the seating platform Darren had built under large trees in the lower part of the vineyard. Heaven! We felt like we were in Tuscany, right here in our home province! We plan to return. Highly, highly recommended!

beautiful vineyard with an incredible host
my partner and i stayed at this lovely vineyard and winery for 2 nights and i couldn’t recommend it more. our host darren was truly incredible with his kind heart and enthusiasm about the property and wine making. he took us on a private tour and tasting and i have never had such a pleasant experience walking the grounds and drinking truly incredible wines. felt like a secret getaway into the south of france right here in nova scotia. thank you darren!

This vineyard was so lovely and being able to spend a night right on the property was really special. The room itself was rustic--in keeping with the style of the place--but luxurious nevertheless, with everything you could need. Including a complimentary bottle of wine! I can't say enough about the wonderful time we had with the private tour and tasting. The place is a gem and that experience added immeasurable value. I would write several reviews if I could!

The best getaway.
This was our first visit to the Bear River area but it won’t be our last. The winery is the perfect place to get away from it all. We were greeted by the owner, Susan who also hosted our private winery tour later that evening. This place is like something out of a movie scene. After the winery closed to the public we had access to the vineyard and were able to sit under the oak trees, enjoying a bottle of their amazing wine while we pretended we were living another life. It is truly a getaway.

This was a pleasant and different find on our journey through NS and we would recommend to anyone who wants a day or two in a serene setting away from the hustle of all the tourist traps. The suite was very comfortable and everything worked! Enjoyed the wine as well! A few more sturdy hangars in the closet and non slip mat for the shower were the only things we would consider adding. Darren and Sue are great hosts and we felt like it was our home. Would definitely return.

A Paradise in Your Backyard
This is a one-bedroom annex to the main winery equipped with all the necessary requirement. The view is breathtaking; the two locations with the Adirondack chairs, one just outside the winery overlooking the vast expanse of the vineyard is stunning! Sipping the complimentary wine from the host, watching the sunset is out of this world. The other set of chairs are on a deck beneath the beauty of an oak tree - I only saw it from a distance but did not use it; it is impossible to savour everything that Bear River offers with just 3 days! The hosts are passionate couple - life partners, business partners, wine enthusiasts, proud custodians of this gift of a place, are impeccable and genuine in their hospitality. The personal tour of the winery and the tasting of the wines made us feel so special and exclusive . The original vintner in Bear River was the apothecary of Port Royal in 1611 and the lady owner of the vineyard was a apothecary (pharmacist)in her previous career; no wonder I felt that I was back in college! Did I say that this is a paradise?

What an amazing experience. The hosts Sue and Darren go out of their way to make you feel welcomed. From the welcoming bottle of wine to having the vineyard at your disposal. During the day you have the choice of sipping wine under the large tree near the end of the vineyard or sipping wine, watching the eagles soar and enjoying the gentle winds at river’s edge. In the evening the vineyard is all yours as you lounge in the chairs overlooking the vines. All the perks but none of the work. A truly relaxing and enjoyable experience that should not be missed.

Beautiful stay in a beautiful place!
We had a wonderful one night stay at Bear River! The winery was gorgeous and the tour was awesome, Darren was great as tour guide and brought the historic space and process alive! The view was stunning. And the winery was only a short walk to town, with great coffee. Really enjoyed ourselves and hope to go back again!
