Smelly and moldy roomPosted Sep 27, 2013
Well... the only thing good about this hotel is the location close to subway. The room was moldy, smelly and dangerous washroom coz it's so slippery. The day 2 somebody else (other guest) open our door and walk in to the room, and the receptionist even come to check if we are in the right room.. and need to see our receipt can they check in the system that the room was occupied?

Nearby to Subway Access; Suitable for Solo TouristPosted Aug 4, 2013
Pros: Location; Nearby Supermarket; In-Hotel Shop selling basic items;
Cons: Facilities in room; 'Rainfall' Shower basically a fixed showerhead aimed towards a flat floored room, causing water spray throughout bathroom;
Location: Close to Subway Terminal. Minimal shops or sights nearby to hotel itself, and taxis and tour guides repeatedly had difficulty finding its location
The main feature of this hotel was its location to nearby Zhangzizhonglu Station, making subway access across the city easy. Smoking rooms were also available, but these were located only in the basement area of the hotel, which experienced some damp and noise from the nearby streets. Although staff were friendly and always available, English was limited and even requesting basic items like a hairdryer was difficult and I had to resort to showing a photograph of one to obtain one, despite it being advertised as available in each room. There appeared to be no Wi-Fi connection, although internet connectivity was generally difficult throughout the city. No English-language television channels were available either in the room, although the air conditioning system was thankfully excellent and helped greatly in the 35 degree + Summer temperatures. The bathroom could improve for its own sake, as the fixed showerhead and flat flooring (no shower cubicle or any kind of container) caused water to frequently spill across the floor and pretty much wet the entire bathroom floor. Although this was not difficult, it may have been for the housekeepers! As a solo traveller, I would use the hotel again purely for its location, although alternatives of higher quality - but higher price also - are probably available in the more business districts of the city.

Good location, sore backPosted Jun 2, 2013
We stayed at the hotel for a week. The beds were solid as a rock which was the worst thing. Also the bathroom looked like the ceiling was falling down. The location is great though, close to the metro and there is a great little god place opposite the hutong.

Great, low cost BJ tourist hotel in good location.Posted Apr 27, 2013
Pros: Location, friendly staff, hutong area, Very quiet room, great shower. Low cost, especially with Expedia Deal I received. Good, cheap local food.
Cons: Sometimes floor cleaning was a bit superficial but linen and bedding was always freshly laundered. No wifi in room but available in reception area.
Location: Central, historic area, 10 mins. from Lama Temple, 15 mins from Drum and Bell Towers. Close to bar area with great live bands ...try the VA Jazz bar!
Need a well located budget hotel in Beijing? Well this could be the one for you!....The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Transport is easy with two underground stations on Line 5 within 5 and 10 minutes walk and great connections with the Airport Express Line means you can touchdown in Beijing Airport and be in your hotel room within 45 minutes!!! The hotel restaurant was wonderful and deserved to be full every night. The hotel is located in a historic hutong and there's lots of history very close to the hotel. The hotel was quiet even though lots of refurbishment was going on.... Management were spending lots of money upgrading many rooms. I stayed for three weeks! Beijing is a safe area for lone travellers and fine for single females as its very close to a well lit main road.

Cheap and SatisfactoryPosted Mar 30, 2013
Pros: Proximity to subway. Space.
Cons: No wifi - only wired internet access. Smelly hallway.
Location: Just off Dongsi BeiDaJie, between Zhangzigonglu and Beixinqao subway stations.
For the price that I paid (through Expedia) I am very satisfied with this hotel. In the Deluxe Suite there were two rooms, one with just a bed and TV and one with a bed, TV and some sofas. The beds were very hard (typical in Chinese hotels), but the linen was clean. The room could have done with a good hoovering, and the furniture was all a bit old. The staff were very nice, and every time I needed to speak with them there was at least one person who spoke English. The nearest subway station is Zhangzizhonglu, less than a minute's walk away. If price and space is important to you, definitely choose this hotel. If you would like something luxurious, definitely do not.
find somewhere elsePosted Dec 3, 2012 on Hotels.com
I am a budget traveler who has stayed in plenty of cheap hotels and hostels. I would not stay here again and I recommend you find somewhere else. The hotel was dirty, the room smelled like mold, cabbage and excrement. When we asked to be moved out of the basement, they said wewould have to pay what we had already paid, and the replacement room was only marginally better. To put it in perspective, we wwould leave the hotel and use public toilets before using the one in our room. There was black mold all over the walls.

The water stunk and the beds felt a bit rough. Worst part is that there was a moldy smell throughout the hotel. On the plus side, it was in an ideal location, near the metro and had plenty of restaurants within walking distance.

It was OK!Posted Apr 5, 2012
Pros: The friendlines of the staff
Location: 200 meters from metro line
The staff was very friendly, the really tried to help and please you, but the lack of english was a problem. The hotel is very near metro station, shops and supermarkets, and there are a lot of restaurants. Take a close look at the bathroom before you agree to take the room!

Basic but ok.Posted Mar 30, 2012
Pros: The hotel staff were very friendly at all times, always a smile on their faces.
Cons: Bath/shower could do with updating
Location: The location was brilliant, was 5 minutes from Beijing's great subway system and even closer to shops, banks and restaurants.
We enjoyed our stay but it left a bit more to be desired, example we did not have a change of bedding over the 8 days that we stayed there. The staff made an effort to be pleasant evenn though the spoke little or no English, they had one reception staff who could communicate with us.
