Cold food and cold servers.

Posted Sep 13, 2014
Room was over priced and Moxies staff were the worst servers I have ever seen.

Okay Place but not great

Posted Sep 11, 2014
Room was not heated despite the temperature dropping to below zero. Person at reception misinformed our tour operator that we had left the hotel when the tour bus came to pick us up at 6am!

Hotel needs updating, management needs training

Posted Sep 9, 2014
Pros: I like the location.
Cons: Fix the bed and the clean and fix the bathroom. The Manager needs lessons in diplomacy.
Location: It is within walking distance to many great restaurants and shopping.
My room needed to be updated badly. The mattress did not fit on the platform. The bathroom wallpaper was peeling and the grout around the tub was very dirty. The hairdryer in the room did not work. The Manager that I dealt with was very condescending, arrogant and rude. The cleaning staff removed some recyclables in my room that I was keeping. The cost of the parking was very high and should be reduced for hotel guests. As a frequent business traveler, I have stayed at this hotel many times in the past and was pleased with the room and the services. In the future, I may have to reconsider this choice.

A bit run down compared to the Sandman in Edmonton

Posted Sep 5, 2014
Pros: the location was convenient. Staff was friendly.
Cons: Renovate the bathrooms… Old tub and old wallpaper makes it looks too shabby...
Wallpaper was painted over in the bathroom, one light was out. Room service took literally 3-4 days to remove dishes from hallway… Basically it was a basic hotel if you are not expecting much, but I think they need to do some serious renos to bring up to the standards of a 3 star hotel...

Ordinary hotel close public transport

Posted Aug 31, 2014
Pros: Not much
Cons: Don't know
Location: Get on the tram.
It was just OK. We moved room as the original one we out was VERY small, too small, no refrigerator in the room.

Run-down hotel, poor experience overall

Posted Aug 18, 2014
Pros: Location, location, location.
Location: Downtown calgary, C-Train nearby, close to Stephen Ave., and many convenience stores close by.
Despite the fact that Expedia said our booking was confirmed, the hotel did not have our reservation in the system. It took 20 minutes of us sitting and 4 checks of our itinerary number to get us a room. No apologies or anything, just us waiting. The hotel is very old: one of the 4 elevators was broken, you have to wait for them for a long time, and they are always full. The room (queen bed) was so small that there was only room for one bedside table. The bathroom was fine though. The hotel restaurant, Moxie's, has gone downhill since my last visit. The food and service was poor. If you are looking to be right in downtown Calgary, and are not planning on spending a lot of time in your hotel, then this hotel is fine.

Sandman Hotel - Downtown location

Posted Aug 17, 2014
Our stay was mediocre. The hotel front staff were not that nice though, a bit snooty. Especially when I asked if a late checkout was possible.

not a good experiance

Posted Aug 17, 2014
well, they didn't have a room for us even though we booked 4 months in advance. switched us 3 different times until they finally gave us a jr suite. which was not very accommodating for 4 people to stay in.

Rundown unpleasant hotel

Posted Aug 15, 2014
The rooms are very run down, stains on the ceiling in the bathroom, worn out carpeting throughout the room, bed was uncomfortable and the air conditioner was noisy. Up keep of the room has been done very poorly, terrible paint job, patching on the ceiling was flaking off. Overall an unpleasant place to stay and I will never be back to this hotel. Spend the extra money and stay somewhere else in Calgary.
