Stayed for 2 nights on last week of summer - fishing seadon. Drunk guys banged doors of their fishing buddies on both ends of the building. I forgot to mentioned to the staff. Window blinds not enough to make room dark for sleeping.

Convenient location, unfriendly desk staff
We stayed for two nights at the Campbell River Lodge by Riverside. Decor was simple and slightly outdated but this was not a problem given the price and perfect location for the numerous activities on offer in the area. Hotel majorly let down by check in staff. Nobody present unless a phone call was made, and after waiting for him to arrive at the desk we were served from behind a screen with no attempt at a welcome, only listing of hotel rules. Similar experience at checkout when we had to wait 10 minutes to drop off key because entire reception area was closed and no facility for key drop (this was after 9am and affected several families all in a rush to get to a set time ferry crossing).

Location! Location!
The hotel location was amazing right beside the river. The rooms are a bit dated but adequate the staff was very friendly . The fish and chips at the restaurant were great it actually had fish instead of mostly batter. Beautiful location

great location on Campbell River waterfront
We would return. The lodge is dated in one part (with rustic log construction) The rooms very clean and well maintained. New owners very friendly. Location on the river is the plus. Beginning 1947 (real memories were made here) The bonus was watching salmon swimming and jumping down river (Campbell River) Made you want to cast a line and catch one!!

Too many rules ... in by 10, no drinking, pretty heavy-handed statement of rules. Felt like we were in a prep school dorm. Not a very warm welcoming environment from the signage.

First of all it was NOT on the ocean beach...
it was backed up to a tiny river. There was NO access to the river as the steps were blocked. There was a hot tub, but it had no water in it but it was full of broken furniture. There was a gazebo, full of junk, scrap wood & umbrellas on the floor. The plants and flowers were dying, had not been watered recently. There were construction materials & broken stuff out where they could be seen. In the hallway there were loose rugs to trip over. The kitchen area: The only pot lid was glass & had broken knob and could have cut me. There was a two burner stove, and only one burner worked. The refrigerator was broken, so they put a second refrigerator in the room, which took up more room. They said don't leave any dirty dishes in the sink so I left everything clean, but if they take any money out of the $250 deposit it WILL be disputed. I have photos. The metal box for a kleenex dispenser was broken & open, so the the box of kleenex on top of it: It was sharp metal that cut my arm. I was led to believe it was a deluxe room.It was shabby.There was a lack of electrical outlets which prevented use of necessary medical equipment. The room was supposed to have a view of the beach...the view was of a fenced parking lot and storage area full of junk. Where do I mail photos and an affidavit of fact? - by ground mail. There were not to be any stairs re disability. Office required use of stairs. Stop sending people to this run down hotel which is not up to code.

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL
Booked room on Expedia 5 days before arrival. Expedia confirmed reservation by e-mail to me. Arrived at the hotel to check in, after a long trip from Bella Bella, and was told that there was no confirmation by Expedia, I had no reservation and no room because the hotel was full. I inquired about the room charge and was told the hotel was responsible for billing and I would not be charged. The hotel clerk called another hotel in Campbell River to see if they had a room but they were full as well. Arrived home to find that I had been charged for the room. Called the hotel and was informed that I was billed for the room because I failed to show up. After a long conversation I asked for a refund and was told that it was Expedia that charged my credit card for the room, not the hotel, and if I wanted a refund I would have to contact Expedia. I was speaking with an individual identified as the manager and the entire conversation was very unsatisfactory. He was less the helpful.

Excellent stay at Campbell River Lodge
We have stayed many times at this hotel and it's always been good. There are new owners this year and they are updating the outsides of the buildings and it looks really nice. The rooms are fine as is. One of the reasons we like this accommodation is because of its history, it's on the river and there was a pub and restaurant on the premises. Unfortunately, the pub and restaurant were closed for renovation, but we were told they would be open again in the next couple of weeks. We will stay there again.

Great views close to town right on river city center 5 min drive grounds clean and well kept staff friendly. Owners are new to Canada so when making a reservation take into account the language barrier they are great but some things are lost in translation.

We had a nice stay there. Nothing that really stands out, but a good price for a decent stay. Besides 5 minutes during check-in, we didn't talk or see anyone else during our stay (the checkout you just leave the key in a basket), so it's hard to say anything about the service. The room was alright, considering the price paid. You getting what you paid for. The location was OK.

Good Clean Hotel for the price. Awesome restaurant connected to the hotel. The rooms were basic but more then adequate for a couple nights stay. The walls are thin but I always travel with earplugs so no problems for me.

Nice little hotel.
Only stayed at this hotel for one night for business but the room was clean, the wifi was good (considering the usual trash wifi hotels usually have) and the staff was accommodating and friendly.

We arrived late, in the dark and instead of the lovely riverside views in the photos, we were greeted with the neon sign of the liquor store that sits in front of it. Our room was right in front and had a view of the parking lot and some industrial area. The room itself was adequate but very dated. In it's favor, the bed linens and towels were clean and fresh. The kitchen had only enough supplies for two people. The bathroom was in the front and had a frosted window in the shower so even if one could not see clearly, it was obvious to the outside world that there was someone taking a shower. And around 11 pm, the people upstairs arrived and clumped around for an hour. Not the fault of the Motel EXCEPT that there is no insulation or anything and you could hear everything! In a muffled way. The kitchenette was some sort of weird two burner stove/refrigerator/sink combo appliance. The room was clean, but so very dated. In the morning we peaked down the walkway toward the river and low and behold, it was much nicer back there. So if you do decide to stay, ASK for a room in the back.

the worst hotel I have ever stayed in!!!
we had a really bad experience at the riverside Inn. as soon as we arrived the owner said we should keep our two children quiet as other guest don t like children and will complain. so I kept my children extremely quiet, but we could not sleep until 6 am as other guests were just outside our room having a party. we then commented on it to the owner and he went balistique and screamed at us (in front of the children) saying we have to leave his hotel right away or he will call the police. and forced us out. he would have use his fist if his wife and other customers would not have stopped him. we also never had internet (while they said they had Wi-Fi, and the phone in the room was not working). I would never recommend to stay there, especially if you have children. they should have made their hotel adults only if they don t like kids!

Tried to check in an hour early and was given a lecture about how they don't make much money when taking bookings from hotels.Com etc. Said the room still needed to be cleaned and there at least 10 available rooms. All rooms booked side by side rather than spread out. Will not be staying here again

Old facilities (1950s) with a nice view
There was an old sign on the entrance to the lobby saying the telephones do not work. Unclear how long that sign had been there. Although the rooms are promoted as all being "non-smoking", they provide an ashtray and chair immediately outside each room's door and leave all the adjacent rooms' windows completely open, allowing them to fill with 2nd hand smoke before you arrive. The rooms themselves were well-cleaned although they looked like no major work had been done since the 70s. Loud plumbing and paper-thin walls (acoustically) so bring earplugs. The bed was okay, but squeaky (as was the neighbour's). The restaurant does not open until 11am (therefore no breakfast) and there is no microwave in the room (although we later found out there's a shared one in the back of the lobby). For the money, it's passable, but not what I expected from the listing.

you offered room rates without breakfast on Expedia you complained about everything we have lot of regular customer we have to shut down this hotel only for you our room rate is best in this town what do you expect more with cheap price hotel clean rooms with nice view is not enough to you

The feature is the Riverside oasis in the back. The rooms are low to middle quality but serviceable and bigger than standard and if you have loud neighbors you'll know it. But the rates are good and the pub attached has decent food. Good for the traveling workman

Ok for the price
For the price of the room it was worth it. The beds are soft but some peoe like them that way. When we 1st turned on the air conditioner it smelled like fish, keeping in mond we were beside a lake and the room had a kitchenette, i sprayed body spray in it and it was fine. They offered to change our room but were already unpacked. The windows have no screens on them but we opened them anyways. The shower pressure was pretty good companies to a lot of motels.

Friendly service. Hotel is right off main road but its back a bit closer to the river than the road which is nice. Its definitely an economy class hotel. If you dont need a room to be exactly to code perfect, but want the nicest place for your buck, this is the place. I enjoyed my stay. Outdoor area is really nice. River is right there! I enjoyed a glass a wine watching people out fly fishing the river. Seen eagles flying by and salmon jumping. It was nice.

As soon as you walked in it smelt odd, the "kitchenette" in the room was unplugged and I was told not to touch it (including the fridge) The washers and dryers were right beside my room and super loud and shook the bed. Just didn't have a clean feeling, everything was pretty old. The 2 staff members were nice, but just gave me an odd feeling as they were lingering around all the time.

Sauberkeit des Zimmers und Bettwäsche nicht gerade einladend. Mann an der Rzeption darauf hingewiesen. Erster Kommentar: würde uns das Geld des vorrausbezahlten Zimmers wieder erstatten. Ihn darauf hingewiesen, dass wir hier gebucht haben und um ein sauberes Zimmer bitten. Er könne uns das nicht anbieten, da dass Reinigungspersonal nicht mehr im Haus sei. Auf vehemente Nachfrage bot er uns dann an, dass wir in einer Stunde wieder kommen können und dass Zimmer sauber sei. War es dann auch um 9.00 PM. Nachfrage, ob wir Frühstück dazu buchen können. Bietet er generell nicht an, da es zu viel Arbeit macht. Zimmer ist einfach, aber für den Preis kann man auch nicht mehr erwarten. Sauberkeit aber schon. Zugang Zimmer nur von externem "Balkon" möglich, wie oft in USA/Kanada. Fenster sind nur bedingt durch Holzrollo abzudunkeln, "Balkonlicht" brennt die ganze Nacht, lässt sich nicht ausschalten bzw. Zeitschalter.

Nice travel lodge sitting directly on the river. Doesn't look like much from the outside but the backyard has a great view of the river and it's calm and peaceful.
