Cardiff Hotel for Saturday night stayPosted Oct 31, 2013
Pros: Convenient location for Cardiff centre. Large, spacious rooms with good facilities in the room. Comfortable, large bed giving a good night's sleep.
Cons: The condition of the spa and value for money. I just did not feel that the hotel was worth the money paid.
Location: The Millenium stadium and Cardiff town centre with shopping centres, bars and restaurants. Cardiff Bay is a 5 minute drive. Limited parking nearby.
I booked this hotel for my BF's birthday as we were attending the Millenium stadium. The hotel itself is nice enough, just not luxurious enough to warrant the price tag attached. The bed was big, the bathroom lovely with a bath & a shower and in room facilities included hot drinks, hairdryer, toiletries, iron and board, music player etc; however, many of these we didn't actually use. We did use the spa the following morning and to be honest it was in what some might call a state of disrepair. For a hotel charging the price it does, we found ourselves sat in the jacuzzi staring at a wall which was discoloured and had a relatively large area where the tiles had fallen off and had not been repaired. I found this to be extremely poor form. Additionally, at the prices being charged for the room to then charge extra for breakfast AND parking is somewhat cheeky in my opinion. Overall, the hotel is well located and ok if you want a standard hotel; however, I would in future book a Premier Inn and then book a spa day somewhere else.

MattressPosted Oct 26, 2013
Pros: The views
Cons: The mattress
The mattress was extremely hard it felt like we were sleeping on a board !! It was very thin and very uncomfortable. Then they charged us twice for the room !!!!

Fairly central hotelPosted Oct 13, 2013
Pros: The hotel executive room had superb views over Cardiff bay and the rest of Cardiff. The room windows were panoramic.
Cons: My wife would have liked the hairdryer to be under a mirror with a seat instead of loose in a drawer.
Location: Fairly central only five minutes walk to the shops and ten to the castle.
My wife and I only stayed one night but found it ideal for visiting Cardiffs great shopping area and was within walking distance of Cardiff arms park, restaurants, and Cardiff Castle.

good location, high qualityPosted Oct 7, 2013
Cons: check in time should be respected by all clients and tyhe staff should uphold this important aspect
Location: very good location a very brief stroll to main shopping & pedestrianised areas, bars & restaurants. Also excellent location for both road & rail acces
we booked 3 rooms and were pleased with all although 1 was not ready for check in and this caused some inconvenience. The standard of everything else was excellent which made our stay feel luxurious.

Noisy roomPosted Sep 13, 2013 on Hotels.com
Room was next to the lift shaft and every time the lifts were in use you get a very abrupt awakening what ever the time of night it is....

First time at MercurePosted Sep 11, 2013 on Hotels.com
The hotel is well located in Cardiff (5 min walk from the castle). It is a high rise building with several floors and services such as spa, gym, conference rooms, etc. Car park is very small so most likely you might have to park off site.Stayed on 7th floor in an ample room. Rain at night was quite loud and the room being near adjacent roof tops did not protect very well from the noise. Otherwise, the staff were very friendly. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant which is very comfortable and was quite nice. A good stay all in all.

We found the hotel very central to the city centre. We used the facilities which were in good condition, the staff were helpful and friendly. We dined in the restaurant which was lovely, as my partner is a chef this can be hard but he enjoyed the food and the service was excellent.
