Nice Hotel, Great Location

Posted Jan 13, 2015
Pros: Location, Style, Comfort, Gym
Cons: Internet Speed, Maintenance On Safe In Room, Bell Service At Door, Quality of Service for Room Service
Location: Cardiff Castle, Cardiff Art Museum, Cardiff City Centre
This is a stylish and comfortable hotel right in Cardiff's city centre. The hotel is close to Cardiff Castle, the art museum, and lots and lots of restaurants, pubs, and retail stores. The hotel is modern and clean. Our room was large, comfortable and clean. We found good quality bed linens, a great bed, and good toiletries. The flat screen TV worked well. We also used the hotel's gym and it is very good for a hotel gym. The hotel has a real nice indoor pool as well. The reception desk staff were welcoming and nice. The Sunday breakfast buffet was OK. There were some small things that appear to be people management related that the hotel might want to address ... no bell service for luggage or to get a taxi, the key pad on the electronic safe was faulty, the room service was a little sloppy (e.g just one set of flatware for two people, etc.), the WiFi was very slow the whole time. On balance however, this is a good hotel.

New years eve break

Posted Jan 3, 2015
Me and my partner stayed at park plaza for two nights over new years the hotel was lovely and clean and the staff were very welcoming and friendly. Lovely full breakfast each morning. Due to the bars across the road the only thing which had it's flaws was the noise from the night clubs on new years eve which I can completely understand however did keep me awake till gone 5am and we did not know how close they were. But overall a lovely couple of days break

Spacious Executive Room

Posted Dec 29, 2014
Pros: Everything, except the air con in our room.
Cons: Air con in the room that pumps out hot air. We set ours to the highest setting (28C) and it didn't warm the room. It only seemed to pump out cool air.
Location: The hotel is just of the main shopping streets, so you have the shopping and eating delights of everything that Cardiff offers.
Lovely Executive room with superb shower and simply huge bed. Complementary 1/2 bottle of wine was excellent. Overall decor was tasteful and felt as though it had recently been refurbished ( it hadn't - we asked). Check in staff were very friendly and helpful. Pool was excellent, with a hot jacuzzi and even hotter steam room. Again, the staff were excellent. We had dinner in the rather splendid restaurant - lovely decor and lighting and very tasty food. Overall, the hotel was smart, friendly and welcoming. A great place to stay for a romantic weekend in central Cardiff. We loved it.

Noisy, but very nice.

Posted Dec 28, 2014
Pros: Location and modern decor.
Cons: Note to team at the Park Plaza - why not supply a couple of pairs of disposable ear plugs in the rooms, just in case outside noise is a problem for gu
Location: Central location means plenty of places to eat/drink/visit within easy walking distance.
Very nicely furnished hotel in a good part of Cardiff, close to pubs, shopping, restaurants etc. Very welcoming reception/lobby area with plenty of comfy seating and numerous gas flame fires adding to the warm atmosphere. Check in staff friendly and efficient. Guest room on the first floor was nice and modern with high ceilings and abstract artwork. Despite the warnings, we took a street facing view thinking it would be a bit more interesting than a rear facing room. As you can guess, overlooking a Lloyds Bar, Varsity bar and just across from Tiger Tiger nightclub, plus a couple of others, it was fairly lively on a December Friday night. Although the Hotel has some pretty decent double glazing, we could still hear a fair bit of noise in the early hours (despite having had a few drinks ourselves, we still woke several times). If you are staying on the weekend and need your rest, I'd STRONGLY suggest you get a rear facing room. Would stay here again as it's a high quality hotel for not much more than some of the three star hotels in the city.

Good hotel on a busy street

Posted Dec 15, 2014
The hotel is nicely located in the centre of Cardiff though there're lots of clubs on the street which makes it busy (and noisy!) at night and on weekends. We particularly like the fireplaces in the lobby. The sports club is also a worthy addition.

Location: Use the tour bus to orientate yourselves with the Cardiff landmarks.
A very pleasant short break to mark our 25th wedding anniversary. Central location was fantastic. Hotel staff sent us an anniversary card The room was very tastefully decorated, comfortable and very clean. Staff friendly and attended to all our requests and questions. Lovely swimming pool and fully equipped gym.
