San Miguel is full of surprises, but don't restrict yourself to just the one place. Arrange a set of wheels and head off to see what's in the surrounding area. Here are a few places to choose from:

• You'll find Plaza de Armas and many more interesting attractions in Chincha Alta. From San Miguel, it's roughly 110 miles away.
• Your next pit stop? Make it Huacho, which is around 75 miles away. Plaza del Sol Mall is one local draw card you really shouldn't miss.
• Paracas National Reservation is about 160 miles from San Miguel and is one of the region's most spectacular nature spots. Pack a picnic lunch and enjoy the fresh air here.
