Nice hotel close enough to Salem and Boston

Posted Nov 10, 2014
Pros: Location, quietness, nice staff.
Cons: Eventually it could use a complete upgrade as far as d├ęcor and exterior appearance.
Location: Boston and Salem were about a 20 minute drive give or take a few minutes depending on traffic or time of day. Exactly what we were looking for.
My sister and I were planning a weekend away on the cheap side...this place was the cheapest around and is a great "diamond in the rough". If you are traveling to the area to site see and need a place to sleep this is it. Nice rooms, even though old...but still clean and larger than expected. Very simple breakfast spread, but enough to fill you up. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone planning on traveling to the area who are on a budget and don't need to stay in brand new places. It may be an older hotel, but it still does what it has to in order to be a nice place to stay.

You get what you pay for...

Pros: I liked the price, as is was about a third of what it would have cost to stay in Salem.
Cons: The condition of the rooms could have been improved. They are very dated.
Location: As I stated, it is a convenient drive to Salem and the surrounding area has plenty of stores and restaurants.
I like to go to Salem, MA every year around Halloween, but accommodations in Salem are very expensive. For the past two years, I have stayed here and its not bad. There is a convenient 15 minute drive into Salem and there are plenty of stores/restaurants nearby the motel for anything I need. The rooms are a bit out-of-date, but they are clean the continental breakfast is a nice way to start the day.

Don't stay here

Pros: Desk clerk was nice
Cons: Remodel, put up noise barrier
Location: Right on RT 1, not far from Salem
This place is wedged between RT 1 and I-95 and there is lots of traffic noise. Rooms are very dated and toilet ran all night. Also difficult to find since motel is behind a hill and you can't see it from the street.

This place is just kinda tired. A little bit of mildew in the shower. The draperies didn't close all the way. Nothing was pretty about it. But the wifi was good.

it is out of date and air conditioning was LOUD, it was hard to find which way to turn to be on the right side of route 1 but it was clean and for one night it was ok.

Do not bother with this hotel

Posted Oct 15, 2014
Pros: It was close to our destination.
We had stayed at this hotel a few years back and it wasn't that bad, so we booked it again. It has either changed hands or is no longer maintained because our room was deplorable. The carpets and curtains had stains all over them. The beds were concave and desperately needed to be replaced. My daughter spent our first night there sleeping in the tub because the beds were so bad. Tried to get a roll away cot, no luck. Ended up going to the local Walmart and buying an air mattress for her to sleep on, as we had already booked and prepaid for our hotel room through Expedia . For the price of the room, we could have stayed at a comfort inn that would have been much cleaner and way more comfortable. Very very disappointed.

Pros: Desk clerk suggested a local farm (Brooksby) that was really great.
We were looking for Fall color in New England and this was one of the only places with a room less than $250/night. Bed was very firm, room was typical for the door-on-the-outside style.
