I was given a room with a broken shower head. Water was spraying all over the place when I turned it on getting myself and all my toiletries wet. I turned the shower head off and attempted to tighten the fitting. While doing so the metal on the fitting cut my hand in 5 different places (A day before I had a fitness test for Alberta Wildfire). When I brought this to the attention of the front desk they offered me a new room for $2 more.

We got a non smoking room. The room smelled like old cigarettes and body odors. The bathroom smelled of really strong urine. Even worse once we showered. We asked for three keys for the room. Only one key card worked. We had to go twice to front desk to get two keys working. Front desk lady was very rude and accused us of doing something to the card. The breakfast was good. The night auditor Nick was very friendly and the Lady at checkout in the moning was super friendly. We said hi and good morning to one of the house keepers. She rolled her eyes and went into a room.

The first room was a lemon
Room smelled of very heavy antiseptic. It was overwhelming when I first entered the room. It was a nice enough day at only -8 so I opened the window and turned on the bathroom fan to help clear it out. Then realized the heat in the room didn't work right. I had the thermostat turned up but the heater never turned on. The fridge in the room sounded like it was getting ready for take-off at NASA all night. I would have unplugged it if I didn't have my lunch to keep cold for the next day. Staff were pleasant when I asked to switch rooms the next night. It was a much better night with heat and no noise from the fridge. Kudos to the lady at the front desk over night (I think her name was Tracy). She was a wonderful help.

Check in was easy and super friendly. I was informed that I was one of 3 rooms booked for the night (it was a holiday) and that things were very quiet. Which was great. Zero noise. Next morning, breakfast was meager in terms of 'hot' food. They only had some sad sausage patties and even sadder fried potatoes. I asked if any eggs would be brought out...i was told they ran out, of eggs. Not even hard boiled eggs? I felt like they didnt want to bother to make eggs since there were so few guests. I get that free breakfast is just that, but not even basic eggs. Dried out sausage was the only thing with protein, the rest was juat carb city! Walked half a block over to another hotel's restaurant and had a proper breakfast.

We have stayed here before, staff was great and rooms were comfortable and it rated a 4 star. There is parking that accommodates trucks and trailers. There is a small strip mall next door with a Timmies and Dairy Queen. WE did not realize when we booked the 2nd time that they still have smoking rooms and apparently that’s what I booked. It was my mistake but Reception was fantastic and cancelled my booking with no issues. Thank you Super 8!

There was a qtip on the floor in the bathroom on the floor by the door. The toilet had a bit feces in the rim. Everything else looked great. I like staying here but that was disappointing.
