The Treehouse

Experience a truly unforgettable stay at this secluded and private retreat in the woods! The Treehouse is mostly bordered by the Nantahala National Forest - you're not able to see any neighbors, except in the winter when the trees are bare. This is the perfect retreat for families and friends. You will love relaxing in the swing on the covered porch with a steamy cup of coffee in the mornings or a thrilling novel with a glass of wine in the afternoon. The firepit, another great gathering spot, offers the opportunity to hang out with your loved ones and tell fun or scary stories while listening to the creek below and looking at the mountain view.

Inside this darling home, you will find an inviting, beautifully decorated, comfortable open great room with a large window with a view of the mountains. The walls and ceiling are knotty pine and soar 16 feet high for that wonderful lodge feel. There is a large leather sofa and two swivel rockers for relaxing while watching the 55' flatscreen TV with cable. The kitchen is well appointed with all you need to make meals for the whole family, granite countertops, microwave, dishwasher, glass-top stove, convection oven, and antler chandelier. There is a Keurig coffee maker that will brew a 12 cup pot or individual pods. The kitchen and dining areas are finished off with bar seating and a dining table under another antler chandelier. Also on the first floor is a sleeping porch with a wall of windows looking towards the view with two beds, a large primary bedroom, and a full bathroom. Upstairs you will find a second bedroom with an en-suite bathroom.

Things to Know
Please note the wood stove in the living room is not available.

Birthday cabin weekend
This was a lovely place for a weekend getaway in the mountains, even better than the pictures and one of my favorite trips to NC! We had good weather, but the driveway is fairly steep and may be difficult to get up in the snow without a 4-wheel drive car. Unrelated to the property, but in the winter, restaurants in nearby towns like Highlands have very limited hours or are closed, so check ahead! Overall, the trip was amazing, thanks so much!

Great Little Weekend Trip
We absolutely loved this house. The house was well stocked with everything you would need for the kitchen and bathrooms as well. Plenty of towels and extra blankets. We loved the deck, great view and the fire pit area was a total hit. The house is located close to everything we wanted to do and see. Highly recommend this house to any family and I hope to visit again soon.

Beautiful House and View
The house is very cozy and warm. The kitchen was more fully stocked with anything you would need, more so than my own home! The views are lovely and the surrounding area is stunning. My only negative, and an important one, is getting to the home. The last half mile or so the road is very narrow, unpaved and downright scary. No guardrails where there are steep drops on the sides. I do not recommend getting there in the dark as we did. I would love to revisit this lovely home but this alone will stop me from going back.

Peaceful
Very comfortable home to stay in. Plenty of room and furnished with everything you need. This home is so peaceful and quiet. A beautiful place to get away from the hustle and bustle of sightseeing the beautiful mountains. The home is very well maintained. Only negative, the king size bed was very hard and uncomfortable. One side was broken down and we had to avoid sleeping in the hole on that side.

Very nice property, but
Very nice, well equipped house. Very secluded and quiet. Here are the buts….internet was intermittent and with no cell coverage, a potential issue. A very noisy dehumidifier going 24/7 in the crawl space took away the serene quiet. The master bedroom bed frame was very squeaky…if you are a toss and turner, you will wake your partner. There should be a warning to NOT come to this place if you have a low profile vehicle…you will scrap along the gravel road and driveway. Beautiful setting.

Very nice-Comfortable - would stay again
Comfortable home. Quiet. All the kitchen accessories. Plenty of room for two couples and kids. Close to trails. Clean. I would warn the future users that a low profile vehicle is not recommended to drive up the gravel road. We scraped the bottom of the car a couple of times. Internet is not the greatest so if needing a remote office it will be difficult. (Wi Fi sign needs updating. We had to figure out by exclusion which internet was the one we needed.). Would have appreciated access to extra pillowcases for the extra pillows made available. Overall in a very good location and very nice place to stay. We were very comfortable and relaxed. (The battery in the door lock seems to be running out of power so we had a bit of difficulty getting the code in before it stopped working.)

Worth the ride up.
The treehouse is worth the ride up the mountain. Read all the reviews about the road so we knew what to expect. A little daunting on the gravel road but when you get to the concrete driveway and there is room to turn around it is fine. The kitchen has all the equipment you need and some spices. It’s great to sit on the porch and have your coffee in the morning. We got there with dinner to cook for the first night and breakfast items. They aren’t kidding when they say get there in the daylight. Would definitely stay there again.

The property itself was very nice and well appointed. However the drive to the house is a gravel, bumpy, steep, one lane "road". Because of that we left early. If I don't even want to think about if there was an emergency. Also - the telescope was a huge fail, as there were no instructions, and thus unusable.
