Holetown, Barbados Hotel Rooms at the Independent

When my girlfriend and I arrived we were greeted in an open air lobby and given rum punch during our check in. Exactly how you want to be greeted. While being shown around they have everything you could ever want in an all inclusive resort!!! It was simply beautiful. All 3 meals and tea time were delicious and the drinks were drinks not juice with rum but a flavored rum drink! The poolside service was fantastic and the staff was extremely friendly! The pool was clean and the beach was kept nicely, that being said they could control the badgering local drug dealers a bit more. But other than that the shops are close (within walking distance) and every activity on the water was very accessible!! Again beware the local riffraff they can be a bit pushy. If you are an american you may have to wait a bit longer than the Brits for certain things or maybe just ask more questions. We are Americans, and you could definitely tell!!

Contrary to negative reviews about this hotel, i found it quite comfortable. So the furniture is not all that modern but the pictures is exactly what u get. for the price you really cant go wrong. if you are looking for luxury then this hotel really is not for you, however if you are looking for a great quality place for a quite comfortable stay on a tight budget this is excellent for the occasion. It is self catering so be prepared to do everything on your own. Trust me you wont regret spending there. 3 nights and i really wished my stay was longer. Thanks Halcyon Palm. Travellers Palm is a great spot to experience Barbados.It was very clean at all times,the grounds and pool were well maintained.The staff were helpful,in particular Julia.Check in and out was quick and painless.It's location allows you to walk to the grocery store or beaches and restaurants.No problems,no issues...would stay here again for sure.

Having read all the reviews of Tropical Sunset we were hoping for a special experience and we weren't disappointed. Previous stays on the south coast had livelier sea and tides so this location right on west coast beach was perfect. Although not far from the road and pretty much in the centre of Holetown the hotel is quiet and all the rooms face the beach and lovely Caribbean. The West Coast Shopping Mall is right across the road with excellent Super Centre supermarket so great for self-catering supplies or just stocking the fridge with beers etc. Beware - designer stores also very close by! There are lots of restaurants within easy strolling distance. Zacchios bar & restaurant next door is great for refreshments on the beach, Happy Hour rum punches and lunch or evening meal overlooking the sea. Sun beds on the beach (free for hotel guests) were also managed through Zacchios by Curly who was superb - unfailingly courteous to customers and always working hard to keep things running smoothly. Safe swimming in sea all day boat trips etc from beach. Also small hotel pool with sun-beds. Rooms are simple but comfortable with reasonable provision for self catering - all are room only so you have to eat out or 'do it yourself'. Work surface and cupboard space a bit limited but fridge is a good size. The staff were all excellent - friendly & helpful. Owners John and Hannah manage the hotel very well and make sure they meet guests and make you feel welcome. We hope to return next year.
