La Union Vacations
La Union is located some 90 miles (145 kilometers) from San Salvador, the national capital.
To really get an understanding of El Salvador, grab a vehicle and check out the cities, towns and villages within the vicinity of La Union. Two places in the vicinity of La Union are San Miguel, 19 miles (31 kilometers) to the east, and El Cuco, 25 miles (40 kilometers) to the northeast.
Make the effort to really get to know El Salvador by understanding its past. A great way to begin is by visiting the area's ruins.
If the weather is good during your stay, try some of the local water activities. Surfing and tubing are just two ways the locals like to cool off here.
Try typical dishes or beverages to discover the local culture. Chicken and beef are just two signature ingredients. Tipico salvadoreno (eggs, cheese, tortillas) and casamiento (rice and black beans) are just two interesting meals for you to try. To finish your experience, you can't go past pastelitos (small stuffed pastries). After your meal, taste a vinagre de piña (fermented pineapples and water), a local favorite. And, whatever time it is, El Salvador is a good place to have kolachampan (sugar-cane soft drink).
