Le 5 Owl - Lac Brome

Summary:
Located in Knowlton, voted one of the most beautiful villages in Quebec, our municipality has become a milestone in the Townships Trail and the Wine Route. Our country house is intimate and can accommodate 12 guests. The 2 acre lot is beautifully landscaped with a beautiful pond and surrounded by floral gardens.
*Please take note that since there are a lot of farms nearby and that ladybugs quite enjoy our chalet, there might be some flying around during summer*

The Space:
You will receive arrival instructions 48 hours before the start of your stay.

The Neighborhood:
Treasures within reach
Lac-Brome remains a popular destination for lovers of antiques and retro objects. Within a 13 km radius, there are fourteen of them, including a wind tunnel where the glass artist transforms used bottles into lamps or other objects. During the summer, visit the Antiques and Crafts Market every third Sunday of the months from June to September.

A rich and admirable heritage
Several buildings have retained the British and American influences of the architecture of Lac-Brome, one of the favored cradles of Loyalists from New England. On the Chemin des Cantons, Lac-Brome offers you a surprising heritage circuit as well as a guided tour, the Knowlton Tour, which really takes you back in time. The Chemin des Cantons also passes through the village for your greatest cultural pleasure!

Relaxing at the beach
Create your special moment by taking the trails to Douglass Beach, a place that welcomes young and old and offers well-deserved refreshment during the hot summer days. Walk the trail, ideally at that magical hour when the sun sets and the sky takes on its unique colors from paradise, to capture magnificent images.

100% gourmet!
Let yourself be guided by your taste buds and experience the gourmet joys for which you are renowned at the table of a great chef, on the wine route, with our local producers, in our public markets, at our microbreweries and much more . . Bring your fork on a culinary journey filled with quality local produce that you won’t soon forget. You can't pass through Brome Lake without tasting the famous duck of the same name!
Literary tourism, major events
The world of detective novels is well anchored in Lac-Brome and lovers of literary tourism are well served! Did you know that the village of Three Pines, which appears in the books of the famous author Louise Penny, actually represents Knowlton? Live like in his books by discovering the Livres Lac-Brome bookstore, the general store and several other businesses. The Knowlton Literary Festival celebrates English literature on its tour in October.

The Brome County Museum, when history can fascinate
The Brome County Museum is a place to discover. Housed in several heritage buildings, the museum traces the history of the region's inhabitants over the past centuries. Discover this fascinating history at the Museum, at the Paul Holland Knowlton House, in the old courthouse or even in the unique Children's Museum.

Enter the world of artists and artisans
Several artists and artisans have chosen Lac-Brome as a source of inspiration. Through the art galleries and artists’ studios, which open their doors during the Le Tour des arts event, discover all the cultural richness of the city. The Galerie Hors-cadre, with its artists-in-residence program, allows you to admire the work of many artists in action in an absolutely magnificent and inspiring place! The Boutiverre workshop-boutique also welcomes you in an impressive environment where you can see lampshades made from recycled bottles.

Take a break
Surrounded by magnificent mountains and breathtaking landscapes, Lac-Brome offers peace of mind in all seasons. Located less than an hour from Montreal, the 14.6 km2 body of water offers you the chance to experience a unique moment. Rides by car, bike or on the water are among the most beautiful in the Eastern Townships, with the small winding and wooded country roads, the 7 villages and hamlets and the numerous panoramic viewpoints.

Activities in all seasons
In summer, practice paddleboarding on this lake, perfect for this sport. Kayak enthusiasts, rent your boat and enjoy the magnificent landscape on the water. The lake welcomes you and allows you to experience other nautical pleasures such as fishing, water skiing, wakeboarding, windsurfing and kite surfing. Find out more from the tourist agency in our region. In winter, discover our snow-covered trails on snowshoes, cross-country skis or oversized bikes. House is great and as indicated.
The house and host were great. The transparency of pricing on VRBO should be improved. Actual costs double as you click through the reservation process.

Idyllic setting in the woods
Wonderful place to stay on our road trip through the area. Comfortable, spacious and very well equipped. We loved the peaceful location, the lovely landscaping and the pretty creek that runs through the property. We appreciated the proximity to great walking trails and shopping. It was easy to pick up groceries and a pleasure to find everything we needed to make dinners in the evenings. Patrick was very responsive and helpful with all our questions. Highly recommended.

No WIFI - WIFI is critical
The property is lovely but we needed wifi and we needed to be able to work from the property. Despite many attempts to contact the agents and fix the problem, this was not done over our entire stay. I would like to request a refund for this critical issue. It made the stay stressful as we had to spend a lot of time at cafe's and restaurants to access their wifi.

Great spot, very clean, lots of space. No dish soap, no dish clothes and only 1 drying towel. Could be a little more amenities in the kitchen.

Nice home in the woods and in the village
Very nice house and nice outdoors. Very responsive and efficient owners. Close to Knowlton with the reopening of restaurants and terraces, which felt really nice. We accessed a beach but not sur if that would be possible in high season. The absence of A/C on the top floor is a challenge during a heat wave but the basement is a great place to be. A nice pond but no pool or spa. The bathrooms could be improved and more amenities are needed (we bought dishcloths and left them).
