"For what we wanted to do, this was an excellent hotel."
We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights as it was close to Mazargues where we were involved in family research. If you wanted to use this hotel to visit the tourist sites of Marseille, you will find it less convenient, although public transport is so good that it really is no problem to commute into town (approx 25 mins to downtown, bus 23 or 45 to Rond Point du Prado, then metro. The nearest local beaches are a 25 minute walk or short bus ride, the bus stops and big supermarket are close by. Staff were friendly and helpful, the apartment excellent with a nice sunny patio and very quiet. The only negatives were the hard bed and the advertised Restaurant which was permanently closed! First time entry to the Residence is via a key panel if the door is locked- press "Appeler" to contact reception, once you have a key, everything is easier. Would not recommend using a car in the city unless you like permanent gridlock. Overall this was an excellent hotel/apartment which we would be happy to use again.

This is a charming , small hotel in an unspoilt location. It is ideal if you want the get away from it all, lounge by the pool or to explore the local area. It is a short , sometimes complicated drive from Marseille and other holiday resorts such as Cassis, you have the great joy of returning to a spotlessly clean room and a night of peace interrupted only by the chirrup of cicadas! Breakfast is beautifully presented with a range of drinks, patisserie, breads, meats and cheeses and can be taken in the lovely breakfast room or on the sunny terrace.
The owners speak English and Italian and are very friendly and helpful.

Mama Shelter is a super chic hotel, every and I mean every detail is considered...a feast for the eyes!
The Staff there could not have been more of a delight to see each day.

close to everything! Lots of restaurants & bars. Shops, including a major shopping mall. Tourist office, a tourist bus & boat cruises around the beautiful scenery of the coast. We had a great view from our balcony of the port & all the bustle around it as we sat eating our breakfast each morning that they delivered to our room, & then in the evenings we watched the sunset. The room was very clean & comfortable with a cosy bed & a great shower with thick clean towels every day! We had to book an extra day to our stay, at the last moment & thought that we'd have to move rooms just for one night but the staff on reception sorted it out so that we didn't have to move rooms. They were really helpful. This excellent hotel really completed a super stay in Marseille for us!

The hotel is in a very good location, 15 minutes walk from to the old port, 2 minutes from the tube station. There is a market on the main street outside the hotel where you can buy fresh fruit and also a patisserie and a supermarket where we bought some fresh bread, pastries and other things. The owner was amazing, spoke good English and helped with all the questions we had about Marseille. We asked for a kettle in a room to make our own tea/coffee and he organised that for us with no fuss. We also got an iron and a hair-dryer - everything we needed really. There was also a fridge in our room. The hotel is 2 stars so don't expect anything too posh but it was tidy, clean and perfect for a 3 night stay.
