From Mount Vernon, it's roughly 55 miles (89 kilometers) to the south to Seattle and 80 miles (129 kilometers) to the south to Tacoma.
Try not to limit yourself to Mount Vernon, because Northwest Washington has been blessed with an abundance natural and man-made attractions waiting to be explored. Roughly 18 miles (29 kilometers) away lies Arlington. Head here to enjoy the Portage Creek Wildlife Reserve and Absolute Air Park.
Bellingham, is another interesting place to head to.
