Surprisingly nice for the MoneyPosted Jan 14, 2013
The room was much nicer than I expected. It even included a sofa sleeper. It was clean, comfortable, and a remarkable value. The breakfast was substantial and hearty and the staff was very friendly. I would very definitely stay here again!

Good value and quality in a central locationPosted Sep 24, 2012
Pros: Excellent quality for the price which is moderate by Oslo standards.
Cons: The street outside was rather run-down.
Location: The hotel is very close to the main bus, train, tram and metro lines.
Anyone used to staying in 'Ibis' hotels will feel at home in the Spectrum. Very clean and modern decor, with a good choice at breakfast. It's only a 5-10 minute walk from both the main bus and train stations and the main tram/metro lines. The price was reasonable compared to other hotels in Oslo. The hotel is situated on a pedestrianised street used by market traders during the day so I'd advise asking for a quiet room at the back (of which there are plenty) although noise at the front isn't really too bad. The nearby doorways are used by rough sleepers so the area has a slightly down-at-heel feel to it although it's busy and well-lit so I didn't feel unsafe. The hotel is at the east end of the street near a main road so you can avoid walking along the pedestrianised street (Brugata) if you really want to. I'd definitely stay there again as the price, quality and central location are superb.

A good value in OsloPosted Jul 8, 2012 on Hotels.com
This was a good basic hotel option in central Oslo, convenient to the main sites and also the train and bus stations. The key drawback is the street it's on has a slightly seedy air about it. That said, I never felt unsafe there and would still recommend it. The room and common areas were nice although a little shopworn in places. The breakfast was great with a good variety. Overall, I'm very happy with the price and experience.

Close to the train stationPosted Jul 6, 2012 on Hotels.com
I have lived in Oslo years ago so i thought knew the town when I booked this hotel. It waqs alright for a train stopover/budget hotel but is not is a particularly good area for shopping, food etc and I so I cant recommend it. Going toward the pier there are nicer places with better surroundings. The room was OK but definitely budget and the shower is very small and hard to use without getting water all over the floor in the bathroom.
