The first thing you experience when entering the Cottage, is distant islands and the deep blue ocean stretching to infinity in all directions. A quick change to your favorite Hawaiian shirt and you are sitting on the beach in an Adirondack chair…you notice there is almost no one on the beach, and the only noise is the surf and your kids having the time of their lives, “perfect”. Well almost perfect . . . perfect is Fiji, 10 hours and $10,000 away, but this will work!

“On the Sand” is a classic California beach house that has been professionally updated, mixing its original beach charm with modern comforts. The original lighthouse mural remains and the typical beach-area small bedrooms and bathrooms were given a surprisingly elegant feel, with distinctive beach styling and upscale bedding.

Your time at the Cottage will be spent on the beach and in the Beach Room. The Beach Room, the largest we know of, offers beach and fireplace lounges, sit down dining for 10 and our favorite…the Light House bar and cold kitchen for your morning coffee, beach side lunch, snacks and beverages. For the chef in your family and sunset dinners there is a second “hot” kitchen. The beach deck has a bar facing the ocean that we bet will become your sunset cocktail spot.

If you care to venture away from your beach house, you have a marina at your back door with restaurants, sport fishing and boat rentals. Santa Barbara is less than an hour away and the wine country just a bit further. One final warning . . . your departure day will arrive quicker than you would like, so savor every minute doing everything or doing nothing!

Beautiful Spot
This is such a beautiful spot! The great room was perfect for our family celebration playing games and doing puzzles. The only reason for 4/5 rather than 5/5 was due to a text I sent about a few issues with no response. One shower wasn’t draining properly and there were no BBQ tools to be found. Also, only 2 wine glasses in the house.🤔 Otherwise it was awesome!!!

Great little spot!
If you want to walk right out onto the beach then this place is hard to beat. The rooms are on the small side but that wasn't an issue for us. The best part is that there are actually 5 bedrooms to split our group up appropriately. The kitchen and grill are nice, too.

The most wonderful Thanksgiving
This beach home has EVERYTHING! The home is cozy and comfortable while having 5 bedrooms! The beach is private and beautiful and it accomodated our entire family for over a week! All the equipment to entertain & cook is here. Two kitchens made making a Thanksgiving dinner easy. Walk out the door right on to the beach! Our children & grandchildren have memories of our time here together to last a lifetime! It was a dream come true! We’ll be back!

Amazing place for a family trip
This place is great plain and simple. Right on the sand, 5 bd rms, walking distance to food and coffee. Went for the weekend with my wife and her sisters for her birthday weekend. Home is also fully stocked and recently updated, would stay again on our next beach trip! David the host was amazing and available with any questions we had.

Very nice having the main living area on the same level as the beach. No stairs to climb coming in and out of the house onto the sand. Open floor plan allows you to enjoy the views from the kitchen area and living room area. There's a very convenient drink frig, sink, and large counter space feet front the sliding door to the sand. This place is great for a family to spend together at the beach. Thank you!

Safe and Sound
This property is very close to an almost private beach. When we travel, we like to allow the kids a bit of freedom. With this property, we felt like we were home safe and sound. Everyone had a blast and we relaxed and chatted up a storm. The check in and check out times were generous and allowed us to find all our flip-flops. :) On Sunday we went to the local food market which was very close and found great items for sale. I would recommend this property as a great get away.

This property was not that special. We were there on an off season weekend. For the sum we paid, the home should have been perfect. It was not. It lacked charm and comfort. No extra blankets or pillows. The bedding was unsuitable. Most bedrooms had bare walls, not a single picture/painting. Upstairs rooms tiny, upstairs bath even smaller. Knowing that the home was not rented in the days prior to our arrival, we asked for a few hours early check in. We received no response. There is an old, bulky padlock on a cabinet right next to the fireplace. VRBO says that clients will never feel they are staying in someone else’s home. The locked cabinet says otherwise. Patio was not swept or watered down prior to our arrival. Barbecue filthy, uncleaned - only 1 of 3 burners operable. The whole outside of the house was dirty. The place inside and out is in need of a paint job. Proximity to the beach, yes. Luxury, no. The furnishings are at least 20 years old. For the price, we expected a lot more. It was not a pleasure.

Spring Break Stay
Had a great time at the cottage. It is perfect for families with it being right on the beach and just a short walk to some cute stores and restaurants. The house is cozy and rooms are definitely small but regardless of that it was a perfect spring break getaway

Wonderful!
Loved the large living area. One group watched the ocean and another group watched TV. The 10 of us were together in the same room but doing different things. The bedrooms were small but the beds were comfortable. We spent a lot of time on the beach which was quiet - seemed to be a very nice neighborhood. We would definitely rent this house again.

Lovely stay
I had a very nice time and the location was perfect. Very easy check in/check out process, so no complaints. The family space is great - very spacious and well done. Some of the rooms don’t have closets and one of the bathrooms is really tiny, but that honestly didn’t bother us too much.
