"The property is very spacious and comfortable. The location is about a 25 minute drive from Killington mountain. The beds are very comfortable! There are some things about the property and the owner that really need some work: -The oven did not work. It would not heat above 100 degrees. -The WiFi did not work. We had to contact the owner for the password, and were still unable to connect. -There are no hand towels or soap in the kitchen. -There are no hooks or racks to hang jackets. -The towel rack in the bathroom only has one screw in it, so it spins around and can only hang one towel. -There were no check out instructions. The most important thing I'd like potential renters to be aware of is how incredibly rude and difficult Douglas was. Prior to our stay, I had considered cancelling the reservation and asked him if that was possible. He responded with an unintelligible message that I did not respond to. A few days later, he called me directly. He was rude, accusatory, and swore at me on the phone. As we were getting ready to leave, he messaged me three times to remind us that we had to be out by 10am. All these messages came BEFORE 10am. He asked me to text him directly, which I did not feel comfortable doing after his attitude on the phone. He even contacted VRBO to have them send me a reminder that we had to be out at 10am (we were out by 10am). It felt very uncomfortable. With some improvements in attitude and accommodation, this place could be great."

"The Winter Lore is a cute house situated on a beautiful property. I loved the little touches of vintage decor! The host is very accommodating, quick to respond and super friendly. The house was clean and had everything we needed for the weekend. We enjoyed our stay and would absolutely book again!"

"Recently stayed three nights. Originally planned on 8 people but ended up being 6. House can easily handle 8 people. Lots of thought went into the house with some nice personal touches along the way: gift basket greeting, flashlights in most rooms, plenty of amenities available for your use. James was attentive but not overbearing. The link/app that is sent to you about the house is very well designed and answers all your questions. We barely turned the TV on but it is a smart TV and can accommodate all your subscriptions or a fire stick. The rooms are as pictured. One of the bedrooms upstairs would be ideal if you had an infant, very large room with a large closet/storage room. All rooms were clean and neat. Refrigerator, washer/dryer and dishwasher looked brand new. I wouldn’t say the house is on a main road but you would want to have your dogs leashed and children monitored at all times; which would be the case with most houses you would rent. Quick drive into Rutland. We took mostly backroads to Pico, beautiful drive. Met one neighbor in passing, she was pleasant and had no issues. I would highly recommend this home for friends and family, bring the dog! Like all good trips the only issue was it was too short."

"This was a perfect property for us. The location with great views was matched by the character and quality of the inside furniture and attention to design details. It also had a very well appointed kitchen, better quality than in the usual rental. All in all, a place to soothe the nerves."
