"I definitely enjoyed our time at Occidental, the staff are all super nice (especially someone working in the entertainment of the resort, I forgot his name, who took the time to learn our names and would always say Hello and was overall such an amazing person)and the location of the hotel is in a nice little corner on the beach allowing you to swim in a natural current that is between two beaches. It was our 10 year anniversary and the hotel provided us with a nice bottle of wine when we arrived and a nice surprise in our room with flowers! Thank you!! Some things they should do to improve satisfaction: 1. Shower head in our room was old and was not pouring the water properly. 2. Cleanliness of the pool more often. 3. Consider cooling the pool for super hot days. 4. They had an event during our last day that they only advertised 30 minutes prior to. They should definitely advertise this to the guests more in advance as it was a fun show to watch and I feel like more guests would enjoy it with proper advertising for said events. "Amazing location for a tropical resort vacation. Lots of energy and buzzy tourist vibe in only the best way. The hotel offers waterfront rooms, and open air amenities everywhere you turn. It was perfect. Staff, especially at the guided tours counter were exceptional and showed such warm interest in us and our experience. We felt like family! We definitely will return! "

"The owners and extremely friendly and can help you with any local tour or dining questions. It is a little bit of an upward climb up the dirt road coming back from downtown but you will get used to it after a day or two. It’s worth it for the location just away from the busy downtown but close enough to wal there and to the beach. "

"Lagarta Lodge was everything we expected and more. From the stunning views to the amazing service and phenomenal food. The staff was accommodating & Lukas in the front really took good care of us. We appreciate him. The wildlife all over the area so was beautiful and at your fingertips. We enjoyed the swim up bar and the balcony from our room! "This is our 3rd time staying at Cala Luna and we absolutely love it! It gets better each time we return! The rooms are so incredibly lovely, the howler monkeys surrounding the property are a delight but above all the staff is the best! Especially in the restaurant and bars - they are so incredibly welcoming and nice! Andres the bartender is a true mixologist (you have to try his mezcal cocktails)! The beds are so comfortable and it’s a one minute walk to a not crowded beach! The room are well thought out with great detail! We will absolutely come back again! "

"Spent a full week at the JW Marriott and had a really great time with my family (wife and 2 girls 10&11). The hotel was really great when it comes to the pool, beach, staff, parking, and rooms. But really the only downside, is that even for a guy who does pretty darn good for himself, the food prices are just plain crazy, and the selection is very mediocre. $24 for a ham sandwich people, $26 burgers, $22 chicken strips, and if you want to eat at the italian buffet $50 a person for mediocre pasta and pizza...I heard the country can be expensive but its just kind of ridiculous."
