Thanksgiving house
Extended family stayed here for the Thanksgiving holiday, as my daughter lives just half a mile from here. House was comfortable, spacious, and clean. Gary was helpful and unobtrusive despite living on site. Would stay here again!

We had a wonderful visit to this house while on a work trip. Take advantage of the earplugs if the neighbors are hosting a friendly party in their back yard, though.

Fabulous family home!
We visited Portland for a wedding weekend. Our family was very comfortable with comfy beds, plenty of towels and a nice large kitchen and living space. Easy access to everything! Thanks Gary for being a easy to reach & work with host!

Nice short stay in portland
My friends and I had a nice short three night stay in portland. The property was clean and accommodating for our large group. My only complaint is that I messaged the host before coming to confirm that the house was stocked with soap, shampoo, conditioner. He messaged back confirming. When we showed up there was no shampoo in any of the bathrooms. All the bottles were completely empty. I had to dig around under the sink and luckily found two tiny Travel shampoos. I was annoyed because I asked ahead of time and hear confirmation, I expect these things to be checked. Makes me wonder what else wasn’t throughly checked.

Overall great place to stay
Spacious and well equipped to handle our group. The area was great, close to essentials and walkable to pubs, restaurants and shops. There was a closet full of games and movies as well which we enjoyed on a night in. We were surprised to find that out the owner lives in the basement of the house but we actually never saw him and it didn’t impact our stay. I had just assumed the “completely separate unit” was more separate.

Family Wedding brought us together
We were so happy with our stay at the King property. Our kids and grandchildren were able to join together comfortably in this home. There was plenty of room for visits, playing cards and preparing for my nieces wedding. The hot tub was enjoyed and the outside patio was perfect for an evening BBQ. Gary was very helpful in recommending restaurant ideas. We all walked on our first day to the Piedmont Food Court. It was perfect for our group and a nice walk through the neighborhood. The location was great and close to the wedding venue. Check in and check out was very smooth. Thank you Gary for sharing your home with us.

Great for our wedding weekend
We rented this house so our bridal party would have a place to stay during the wedding weekend. We didn’t spend a lot of time at the house but it fit our needs and the weekend went great!

The home is well-equipped for children with plenty of games, toys and books. The home also has two pack and plays and two highchairs as well as child safety features including two security gates, cabinet locks, outlet covers, etc. The dual twin-over-queen bunk beds in the Tom McCall guestroom on the upper level of the home can comfortably sleep up to six children and/or adults. Hundreds of out-of-town wedding parties have stayed here over the past 13 years. The home is well-equipped for multigenerational families with toys and games for kids, many board games for adults, hair dryers, two pack and plays, two security gates, security locks for the cabinets, outlet covers, a Keurig, hot tub, dining for 17, place settings for 75, etc. The home is within the historic Piedmont District, an excellent walking neighborhood with many older historic homes The home is also within one block of a large grocery, drugstore and Starbucks. It is also six blocks from Peninsula Park Rose Garden with a large playground for kids, tennis and basketball courts and a swimming pool. In addition, the home is within 12 blocks of four trendy commercial districts, including the Alberts Arts district, Historic Mississippi District, Willams District and Dekum Triangle and seven minutes to downtown Portland. Great Vacation Home! Incredible Kitchen!
Check in process was very smooth. Gary was very accommodating and clearly communicated everything we needed to know in advance. The house was very clean when we arrived. The house is located in a great neighborhood, with may good establishments within walking distance. We had a nice evening stroll over to Breakside Brewing, which was lovely. The kitchen has everything you would need as well. Perhaps the most well stocked kitchen of any vacation home I have ever stayed in. Thanks Gary!

Great experience
We were here for the NCAA tournaments and we had a great time at this property. Neighborhood is quiet but close to lots of conveniences. Honestly no problems whatsoever. The whole process was easy. I would definitely stay there again.

Out of town wedding
My husband & I booked this house so we could stay with our 4 adult kids and their families while being in Portland for a wedding. It was the perfect size for us. Gary was so flexible about letting us check in early. The house is a block away from Starbucks, Safeway and Walgreens. It could not have been more convenient. The bed upstairs was so comfy. I could stayed in bed all day! I’m just sad we were only in town for the weekend. It would have been nice if we could have just spent out time there, cooking and playing games. We will definitely try to stay here again if we come to Portland again.

A Comforting Space
We came to Portland to spend time with a family member dying of cancer. The location was perfect; close to the airport and our family member's home. The living room was a comfortable place to gather; the spa provided extra TLC and Gary welcomed us on arrival. Recommend if you need a clean and comfortable home away from home.

Nice Escape
My husband and I went to Portland to visit our son, daughter-in-law and young grandchildren. Because of Covid 19 we were very picky about where we wanted to stay. The owner is extraordinarily concerned about his renters, and keeps his house exceptionally clean. That made our stay very comfortable from the start. Although we did not have a chance to enjoy everything the house offers - no parties or hot-tubbing - we found it very relaxing when we were not with the family. It is in a good neighborhood and conveniently located near stores and restaurants. The owner is also very nice, and was so accommodating as we arrived very late in the evening and needed to stay a couple hours passed normal check out.

Great stay

Comfortable place with great hot tub!
The place was super nice and clean and such a cute vintage house. 8 of us stayed and all enjoyed it. Hot tub great-curfew of 9:30pm but wasn’t a problem for us. Gary, the owner, was super nice and considerate. I did not realize he lives on-site in a separate apt. with a shared back entrance so I think that’s good to note-but he is very sweet and made it clear it was our place and we could be as loud as we wanted. House equipped with all you could want and we will stay again. Location is in a cute neighborhood walkable to popular areas. Food in Portland is phenomenal! Have fun!

Great home for family gathering
Our family met in Portland for a get together and this property was large enough for everyone to have their own space as well as great common areas for talking and laughing together. The property was well stocked with everything we could need. Very clean and in a great neighborhood.
We thought that Gary’s house was very clean and comfortable. We wished that the hot tub policy was longer than 9:30pm, as we worked long shifts on our work trip and would like to have used that benefit more. Also, we were not aware that Gary lives onsite next to the laundry area in the house. We would have appreciated a more clear disclosure on this in the description of the house rental. If you are looking for a great location and don’t mind the owner living on site during your rental, this is a great find!

Hi Maureen, thank you for your review. I am glad you enjoyed your stay. The hot tub rule is in place due to noise control since the home is in a residential neighborhood. Previously there were some issues with outside noise occurring after 9:30 PM and my neighbors subsequently requested hot tub use between the hours of 9 A.M. and 9:30 P.M. since they go to bed early. I have also updated the house description to mention I Iive in the lower level of the home (per the new Short Term Housing law in the City of Portland owners are required to live on site 270 days a year).

Great house in a good location
This charming house hosted is located about 20min from downtown Portland right off of major bus route. My group of 9 all had a great stay. After a day of biking around Portland and making lots of stops at breweries and it nice to relax in the hot tub and fire up the bbq. Gary was an excellent host and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

Family homebase
My siblings and spouses came to Portland for our nephew's wedding. This home had everything we needed!. The beds are comfortable, plenty of room in 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and living space for 10 adults. The kitchen is supplied with everything you need to make meals. We grilled out. The Safeway grocery store is 2 blocks away which was very convenient. Gary met us there the first day and answered any questions we had and gave some great tips of places to go to and restaurants. We walked to the Peninsula rose garden which was beautiful a couple times! Peaceful neighborhood and I would highly recommend this to any family.

Great house full of amenities
Owner was very responsive to any needs and had everything you could want for a large gathering, even an espresso machine. On the walk through he explained where everything was and how it all worked. Just 4 blocks from a nice park/rose garden. Quaint neighborhood with lots of old houses and gardens to look at. Very close to the airport also.

Clean, well equipped, great location
This is the cleanest rental I have stayed in. It is very thoughtfully equipped. There are many air beds available for extra guests, and we did not need anything extra. The house is less than 1 block from a Starbucks and walking distance to Safeway. Gary is a very attentive host. He lives on site in a separate basement apartment. He met our group upon arrival and walked me through the house giving a very thorough tour explaining the house and the rules of the house. I did not give the house 5 stars because of the hot tub hours. I understand being respectful to neighbors, but on a Friday and Saturday night, 9:30 curfew was too early, and we did not get to use the hot tub at all for this reason. Gary is very thorough so be sure to make note of any damaged areas or dirty towels before he leaves the tour.

Warm. Comfortable. Inviting. Well Appointed.
Great location to fit our travel plans. This was a work and playtime session. We had adequate WIFI for tablets, computers and phones. There the dining space doubled as a nice work and meeting area. We cooked breakfast one morning and were pleasantly surprised with the well-stocked kitchen. Comfy beds and plush towels added to the experience. Wonderful property for a family gathering!

Nice location, beautiful home
This home was perfect for our family of 8, including a 9-month old. We were in town for a wedding and the location was central to everywhere we needed to go. The kitchen was fully equipped with anything we needed. The bedrooms are spacious and the beds were very comfortable. The bathrooms were nice and there were enough towels for everyone to have a fresh one each day if we wanted. Gary is a wonderful host and was very responsive to any questions we had. There was a slight issue with the pack n play, so he immediately went out and bought a new one! Our stay was very pleasant and we plan to rent again in the future.

Very cozy home, nice ammenities
We had a great time in Portland! The kitchen was very well stocked with equipment and the beds were comfortable. We also enjoyed the hot tub. Gary stopped by to give a tour and say hello on the first day, but otherwise stayed in his living space in the basement. He was very responsive to questions and easy to get in touch with. Charming House in North Portland

Home was incredibly well stocked, organized and clean. Beautiful house with a spacious layout. I was initially unsure about having the home owner/manager Gary down below... as we didn't want to disturb him. But he kept well to himself after the initial check-in. Gary was very easy to communicate with, always happy to help and was very flexible. If we have a large group gathering in Portland again, we would definitely rent out his home! Beautiful neighborhood with Starbucks, Safeway and Walgreens right out your front door (1-2 blocks away)!

The Piedmont is Perfect!!
The Piedmont was the perfect location with all of the necessities! Gary's attention to detail from the decor of the house to the needs of the people staying in his home is superb. We will definitely look him up again when we visit Portland in the future.
