Clean but not luxurious. Pillows could use an upgrade! Lulu and George, who work here, make the stay feel like family. Great location- just off the beach and close to restaurants.

After being assigned the wrong room on the 1st night, Natalie went above and beyond to accommodate me and get me into the best suite in the hotel. Staff are great, the location is ideal, the rooms are clean and a concerted effort is being made to enhance the property. I would recommend this hotel that is not a 4 star but has everything you need.

These guys gave away my room after I secured it with a pre-payment through Expedia. - I was screwed w/o a room in Mexico even after I pre-paid for it. They gave me a refund... but don't trust these guys. I showed up with Bags and 8:00 PM, and they told me "Tough Luck" under no uncertain terms. Reserver... beware! Preparyment means nothing to this hotel.

This property has obviously had no maintenance for quite some time. When I opened my sealed soap package it was gooey and dirty inside, it went straight in the trash! The plumbing fixtures looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. The man who signed us in seemed completely unsure of what he was doing and did not give us the original room that was on our check in papers. I think others had complained that got there ahead of us and he just gave the rooms to whomever wanted them. The pool area was pretty rundown and the cushions on the lounge chairs were visibly dirty. Don’t go here unless renovations and maintenance are done in a large way.

This is a bare bones hotel. The property has not been maintained or improved for some time. The photos in the advertisement must be old because it is has a worn out look now. I guess at $62 a night you get what you pay for. The good items were; LuLu our cleaning lady was a joy. We were approximately 1/2 a block from the beach.

Best secret in Puerto Morelos!
Clean, basic room with comfortable beds, hot water in shower and Excellent location steps to the beach! Pool was refreshing-great value!

Terrible value given the condition of the hotel and rooms. Horrible beds, toilet wouldn't flush our entire stay. Never got fixed. Overhead lights didn't work. Dirty floors. Huge gap in door letting many bugs in at night.

Place was in fantastic location. Sorry it was hard to rest w a loud music club/bar across the street. This was not the fault of the hotel, but it impacted my ability to rest. Appreciated staff, especially lulu.

Location is fantastic. Staff are ok. Owner fired management when I was there and would not honor my pre-paid booking. Cops came and actually evicted guests. I had to pay $400 cash to stay.

The property is well managed and well maintained with helpful staff. The setting is good, 2 minutes from the beach. I felt secure and at peace there. There was nothing that I found concerning. Great place.

The cleaning lady was really nice. She's very short and has a very positive attitude. She was a bright spot in staying here. From the first day we checked in she was making every effort to make us comfortable. The room was close to restaurants, transportation and the beach. The staff answered all of our questions. The room sank when we first checked in because they didn't have a stopper on the drain in the shower. They didn't have any soap and they had limited channels. There were no hangers for our clothes. It was also noisy sometimes from the people upstairs and the music at the restaurant across the street. The second day the same cleaning lady put a drain stopper in the shower and it made all the difference and knocked out the smell. She also gave us some shampoo for soap and tried to make us feel comfortable. Overall the hotel is good if you like being near the beach, good restuarants and transportation. But I felt for what they charged they could do some things better. We also think the person checking us in could have been a bit more cheerful. He seemed very tired when we spoke to him.

Very good value. Our room was a lovely, private cabana with great beach access and walking distance to everything. We had a fridge, a safe and outside seating area and good WiFi. Housekeeping was excellent. Reception was excellent. Our room was ready even though we arrived very early. The only small negative was low water pressure and not much storage room for clothes. Would stay again.

Hotel Gota De Sal is in a great location. Close to beach. Upon check in the facility had us checking in on 12/7 rather than 12/3 which I had documentation of. Also booked ocean view room. After some checking Sebastion found a room. Room faced street not ocean. Room looked clean but very outdated. Later that night (Sat. night) live music began at Lauro's. Lauro's is close enough to us to see it. Thought band was playing just outside of our door. Zeppelin cover band that I could actually sing along with it if I wanted to. When over at about 11:30pm I heard screaming outside of our door. Several kids running the pool (steps away from our room) Laughing and screaming. I opened our door three times and said please stop screaming. One of the older kids,10 years old? started high pitch whistling. Then a woman, not sure if her kids or not, started yelling at me and saying they're just playing. I said I don't care if they are playing but they need to stop screaming. Then I went into our bathroom and saw 2 cockroaches on the floor. Aware that they are common in this climate but never in my 25 years of vacationing have I ever had a room with cockroaches. Next morning Sebastion said he could put us in another room after one more night. Next room, ocean side, much better. Tolerable night music, no screaming kids, and no roaches. Overall, I've learned you get what you pay for. Would not choose again. But Sebastion and Lulu, in housekeeping, were great.

I would love to give this hotel a first class rating especially for location and Mexican charm. However, the beds are in bad condition, the draperies have holes are difficult if not impossible to open or close, the rings are rusted and broken. We loved when there was a small service for breakfast on site, which is now closed and the worst part was the continuous loud music way into the night, some nights past midnight and beyond. We could not close the bathroom window, which might have helped with the noise problem. We had four rooms in our group and we all love visiting Gota but it is being neglected.

The staff is wonderful and the location to the beach and snorkeling is great! The property condition has gone downhill (this was our third time in six years staying); buildings need improvements inside and out. EXTREMELY loud music 9:30p-1:30am every night at a bar nearby and hard beds made it impossible to get a good night sleep. We had the same experience in 2019 but we had hoped these were not issues anymore. Unfortunately, they still are. Disappointed we have to find another place to stay.

The location, right on the beach, is great and it was fine. But negatives include gaps in the mosquito mesh and around doors so there were constantly a few bugs in the room, and a questionable brown smudge on the bathroom wall. In addition, be aware that the bar across the road does live music (at least on a Friday when we were there) and we could sing along to every tune from bed as easily as if we were in the bar.

It could be such a gem!
This is our second time staying there. They seem to be letting upgrades and repairs go undone. It is in such a great location, have nice staff, a real community feel among the guests, but seriously, it needs a major overhaul to all of the rooms, and the pool is in rough shape(big patches of missing tiles, cloudy water most days).

The hotel staff were very kind and helpful. We had a horrible night with loud music that went on from across the street. The bar played very loud American Rock and Roll music (not even Mexican music) until 11:30. We went to make a compliance but they did not care. We had a plan to get up early in the morning and we were very frustrated.

This was a great place to stay!! It is practically right off the beach and has a trail directly to it in the back. For $50 a night I highly suggest this place.

The property could use some updates. But the people working there are absolutely wonderful! Sebastian (I believe he may be the owner) was very good to us. LuLu has a heart of gold & her personality & smile are bigger than she is! Lisa was also very kind & considerate. Churro was very helpful with what we needed. You can walk to anywhere you want from this property. The people that work there make it worth staying there.

The room was clean & comfortable. The hotel is very closeby the beach & sea. Unfortunately the music at the beach club was extremely loud! I was dusappointed to not be able to spend time at beach club due to the blasting music. I won't stay at this hotel again.

Perfect location for a solo traveler like myself, couples or families within walking distance to everything you need in Puerto Morelos! Room was simple but very clean with a fridge, glassware, good AC and an ocean view. Right across the street from a good pizza spot and live music but it wasnt loud enough to disturb me. Only thing I wish they would have had was coffee in the mornings :) I would definitely recommend!

Gota de Sal remains a favorite because of its location near the beach and in town. Rooms are clean with good working ac and fan, a small fridge, safe, hot water. Beds are a bit on the firm side. Unfortunately the beach club at which one could get a halfprice deal for the day if staying at the hotel which directly in front of it and which was excellent, has been closed for unknown reasons. Gota is within easy walking distance of a number of great restaurants and the town centre, One downside is the music noise coming from a place across the street that may go until 11-12. Fortunately mostly 70-80’s cover bands , so bearable , but quite loud. The foodtruck court that had set up residence there a few years ago has fallen victim to the pandemic and is looking abandoned. The hotel also no longer serves breakfast in the reception area but there are lots of places in the immediate vicinity to go. The streetside pool remains well maintained and has a number of loungers and umbrellas around it. Overall a good value choice for PM.

This hotel is very convenient to walk to the ocean and to walk to restaurants and groceries. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The facilities were tired and could use some upkeep.

The fmal front desk person was awfully rude multiple times. We were supposed to have an ocean front room. What we had was a small view of the ocean between 2 other actual beach front rooms. One day 3 we left a very generous tip for the maid as we had been very happy with her work the prior day. When we came back from our day explring our room had not been cleaned but the envelope with the tip had been oved and the tip was gone. When we approached the staff she saw us and started digging in her purse for the money before we even said anything. We ended up leaving the hotel early because of this. Also when it rains the water sometimes crests into the room. The other staff we encounterd were actually very nice and helpful.
