“Nice place with beautiful views on a budget!!”
Great place for low peak season, above the malecon. Needed a cheap place got a great deal with a vacation package. Wanted two beds and was upgraded to a junior sweet with wrap around balcony. Extremely beautiful views, no air condition and 96 steps above the base of the roads in downtown. The only staff member was nice at times, and not at others. When I asked for bed pillows, I didn't get them because maid had gone for the night. He didn't want to give us pillows from another vacant room. But, we received pillows the next day. Wanted to exchange cash. At 10 pm, he only had 100 pesos on-site. go figure. Cable went out 3 of the five days. Again, with all these issues, it was still a memorable place that if I was to go again and the price was right, I would stay again.
“Great views! But no a/c”
The view from the hotel is incredible - downtown PV and the pacific ocean. There is a giant patio door-like window that opens toward the ocean. There is a mini kitchen that is pretty well-stocked with cooking utensils for a hotel (mini fridge, blender, pots and pans, stove, utensils). The room was once very beautiful with a large wood and glass wardrobe and classic Mexican tiles, but some tiles are cracked and the wardrobe door doesn't really open and close. It is fairly clean. The bed is king sized but you can definitely feel the springs in the mattress. There is no a/c, but in PV it's not necessary except perhaps in July and August. The front desk guys were okay at English and VERY helpful in arranging for excursions and taxis (much better than the guys in booths downtown). In my opinion, the view, staff, and great price make up for the lumpy mattress and lack of a/c. I would definitely stay there again.
“best views around”
I stayed there the 1st of July for 9 nites. This is an old hotel updated. The views were awesome. The rooms clean and service great. The pool was just right clean and cool. You do have to hike some so be prepared. This is good after all the good food u have in town. While there be sure to eat at the top of the hotel. It is very good. Also there is a great new bar in town Murphys Irish Pub for great wings and fish and chips. The beer is great and the owners are awesome. Remember this hotel is a great value but there is no air. But good fans and windows open to a deck, on some rooms. Thanks for the great time and service. Doug (Utah)
“Meld”
I've been in this hotel in 2009 and 2011, It's great and very cheap. Best view of the old city of Puerto Vallarta. The bigger rooms have a nice balcony so we could enjoy the Sunset every day. Rooms have also a fridge and kitchen which is very convenient. They also have a very good panoramic restaurant on the 7th floor. Personel of the hotel are very nice and accommodating. Hotel has a nice pool, a free parking. Only downside,it's a little tricky to get there are the street pavement is very bad, other than that, it's really worth it. There is no AC, only fans, but unless you visit in July or August, you should be fine with the fans. You can hear the bell of the church on the morning so if you are sensitive to noise, it's better to bring earplugs.
“Best value for your money and view in PVR”
Spent 14 days from April 2011 to May 6th. true Mexican culture hotel on top of the hill in Malecon. Best view of north and south. Walk up the hill is not for everyone but you certainly get your exercise. Taxi's can always drive you to hotel for a few $$. Staff are friendly and accomadating. Hotel is old but clean and in good shape. Even if you don' stay here you definitely need to make reservations at roof top restaurant for the view and sunset. Would recommend this hotel to anyone.
“spectacular views”
The hotel has the best views in the city, though it comes at an exercise cost to get up the hill. Very nice pool, but it was quite cold in March. Nice big rooms and kitchen. We had some special requests for the kitchen and the staff complied nicely. We went with three kids and they thought it was great too.
“Beautiful view, right in town and we would definitely go back.”

“Great place, Loved La Siesta and Puerto Vallarta!”
There are a lot of Time Share sales offices up and down the streets so be careful unless you want to take tour (they do offer cash and free excursions for your time- up to you). They can be very agressive. The best tour operator is Vallarta Adventures. We did the Rythms of the Night, Yelapa and the Sunset Sail thru them and they are amazing the way they run these tours, great staff, wonderful experience! Rythms of the Night should not be missed for couples - very romantic evening in an amazing setting. We did the zipline excursion with El Edan at the Predator site also very well done. I did two days of scuba diving thru Vallarta Under Sea and they were also a very good operation with extremely friendly staff with a safety first attitude.
“Mexico”
This hotel is wonderful, we've stayed there many times. Their is only one problem with the location and it's the noise from the night clubs in Puerto Vallarta. These clubs stay open almost all night on the weekends. I hope that this practices will stop, because it's hurting the business of neighboring hotels.
“Nice view, but not impressed for the price.”
We were looking for a hotel in town for a couple of nights before heading north, that was not of the all-inclusive variety, as we did not expect to spend a lot of time there. Hotel has a great view. The room has a great balcony that looks out over the city and the bay. The rooms are nice, but really not very clean. When we arrived it was obvious that the bathroom had not been cleaned, and the floors had not been mopped in a while. Towels and linens were ok. With a small tip to the maids, there was a slight improvement. Staff at the front desk were cordial, but did not go out of their way to help us get situated. The hotel is on a hill and all over town you can hear the discos at night. However, over the weekend there is a bar directly below the hotel that plays extremely loud, live mexican music until 6 am. I slept through it, but my friend did not. Overall we had a pleasant stay for two nights, but I suspect there are nicer places for the same amount of money. In the future I will probably choose a less expensive option.
