They said there was no roomsPosted Nov 26, 2013
I got there around 8:00PM with my gf who just arrived from Colombia and the guy who assisted on the check in told us they needed to changes us to a different hotel (Which VIVA owns) called "Believe Canoa". Of course it is cheaper than Dominicus Beach, which btw I had paid 3 weeks prior and where supposedly the check in was guaranteed until midnight. I had to argue with the guy who even threatened to get a security guard. All I was doing was demanding my rights and I had my confirmation papers. At that time a group of other people got to the hotel and they started checking them in and giving them rooms which was a rude insult to us. After a long time arguing they gave us the room. Basically the hotel over sales the rooms. Horrible experience!

DisappointedPosted Nov 19, 2013
Pros: The beach is very close to the resort. That was nice. The bartenders were good - they remembered what you liked to drink.
Cons: Leave vacationers alone. We're there to relax; not listen to promotions.
The day we checked in, we get to our room and find out the entire area around the closet had flooded. Maintenance comes and cleans it up. Floods again. Day 2 - still flooding in that corner and the air conditioner breaks. Again, maintenance comes and "fixes" everything. Still a flood, still hot air. Took about three days to get moved to another room. Several complaints over the phone and at the reception's desk. Maintenance people didn't "fix" anything. They mopped the floor and banged on the air conditioner. Better - no flood, cool air. It was irritating to constantly be approached by staff who were trying to promote deals, VIPs, memberships, benefits by joining Wyndham. We were there to relax; not listen to promotions.

Not what I expectedPosted Nov 16, 2013
Pros: The beach front and the pier going out into the ocean
Cons: food, service
Location: The isn't much outside of the resort
The hotel staff was rude, our air conditioner didn't work in our room even after they said they fixed it, the restaurants were supposedly booked up but were basically empty when we went by, many of the restaurants were closed, only 1 restaurant was open that was included in the all-inclusive...we were misguided by how far the resort is from the airport, we had to pay $85/person to drive almost an hour to the resort The beach was absolutely beautiful though

Small room but clean facility and beautiful beachPosted Nov 12, 2013
Pros: The beach
Cons: The staff need to be bilingual
Location: Too far from the Airport and expensive to get to.
This was my first time in Dominican Republic and i would return to the country just not the same resort. The standard rooms were small, it had no refrigerator, no ironing board or iron, we had to asked for ironing board and iron. The staff did not speak english so it was difficult to communicate. Overall stay was ok, loved the beach.

Pros: beach, buildings, decor.
Cons: food, staff knowledge (specifically gluten free)
Location: ziplining was great - drive through santo domingo.
Buildings and beach and decor was beautiful. Couldn't have been better. However, my wife is gluten free and no one on the staff seemed to understand what it really means so she mistakenly ate gluten a couple times even though they advised her it was ok. I'm not gluten free so I tried everything and the food was not very good. Overall - scenery was amazing, staff was mediocre, food was disappointing.

Nice and large resort with lots of beachPosted Oct 28, 2013
Pros: The beaches and the pools-- there are many pools, we stayed at the less populated beach.........and it was very relaxing
Cons: Just watch out for the "concierges" they are very nice and helpful- but they try to get you to commit to learning about the time share
Location: we did the Discovery cruise -- well worth the money-- it is an all day excursion but wonderful!!!
My husband and I went here for our 2 year anniversary-- We started to get nervous after reading some of the reviews, but we disagree with them all. We stayed in one of the bungalows-- they were great-- don't expect 800 count sheets, but we were there for more the beach and relaxation-- so the room was perfect for us. The food was good as well, again you do not go to an all inclusive resort thinking you are going to be getting the best of the best-- but we had no issues at all-- we ate at the buffet most of the time, and had dinner at one of the restaurants, we also went outside the resort and had some local flair-- there is an Italian place that is great!!! The hotel had great beaches something to do at all times!!! We are already talking about going back!!!

Good Price, Good StayPosted Oct 22, 2013
Pros: Great hotel and scenary. Room kept very clean and very cozy feeling. Only issues is they are not that many english speaking channels & wifi is limited
Cons: Bilingual staff could be very helpful. Staff are extremely pleasant but difficulty trying to communicate.
I enjoyed everything about my experience to Punta Cana. From my check in to check out the staff was very respectful. My only issue with staff was communicating. I had a little diffiuclty asking for items. The activities provided for you are very festive and bartenders are extremely friendly. I did not venture to the other side of resort because everything I needed (bar, stores and favorite buffet style resturant) were closer to my suite. The very last night, I did book a reservation at one of the resturants and was very pleased with presentation and style of food. I would definitley recommended Viva Wyndham hotel to anyone looking to enjoy the beautiful beach scenery and joyous bartenders.

Great deal and amazing beachPosted Oct 21, 2013
If you want a relaxing stay and don't want to worry about planning much, this is the place. It was nice to stay on the beach all day and be able to eat all our meals there at the hotel. Make reservations in the morning and you will be good.

Terrible experience! Will never go back there.Posted Oct 13, 2013
I go to DR every 2 months and this time it was terrible. We arrived to the hotel and instead of being welcomed the security guy looked at us unfriendly saying what we were doing there. We showed him our reservation with our names on it but he kept questioning and talking to other security guy at the same time. It was really rude. After 10 min he let us go. The whole area was huge, we had to walk a lot to get drinks, towels and to eat. Staff was rude, never greeted, only looked at us unfriendly. The room was small, with no AC, no hot water, and leaking ceiling in the bathroom and phone for a room service that wasn't working at all.Horrible. People from animadores were rude, drunk and were making fun of the tourists. Disco at night was full of drunk animadores, not friendly at all. Only food was ok, but nothing special. I will never go back there and seriously people stay away. Go to Catalonia playa bavaro.
