Missing the basicsPosted May 24, 2015
Pros: Maid Service was excellent. Front desk personnel was excellent.
Location: Horseback riding, shopping, caves, scuba diving and snorkeling.
The free WiFi in the lobby was almost non-existent 9 out of 9 days. The lobby ATM was out of service 4 out of 9 days. There were 2 bartenders for roughly 30 people, 3 lines deep at times. The wait staff in the the main restaurant rarely smiled and said hello. There were too many conversations with staff indicating they were not happy working there and upper management was very bad. I've never been anywhere before where they actually cleared the pool in the afternoon. The activity area, like volleyball, is within 5 feet of the main stairway to and from the beach area. The beach towel hut is at the furthest possible point to the left of the property. No employee takes ownership of anything. If you say 'your WiFi sucks', the response from the concierge is, 'It's not my WiFi'. Complain about the location of the beach towel hut, the response is, 'I didn't put it there'. A bartender who is swamped will turn and ask a co-worker for help and get a 'not my job, man' look. This resort needs a change in management. Resort computer locked us out of our room a day before we were scheduled to leave. Food was good, beverages were the worst.

Staff is great. Wifi does not work so they make you pay for the "paid one" and that works. evertike we flushed the toilet it smelled like the sewer was backed up. In the future I prefer to pay extra and stay somewhere more upgraded

Nice resort on the beachPosted May 2, 2015
Pros: My room was right on the beach. Drinks were strong and included in the price. Buffet was good. They also had a snack bar with burgers and fries
Cons: WIFI could be better, other than that nothing. As an American visiting the DR you should try to speak some Spanish
Location: The area outside of the resort is not bad, I walked around and felt safe but basically I stayed on the resort except for an excursion
This was my first all inclusive resort stay. I wasn't sure if it really would be all inclusive but it was! All the drinks and food included. You had to pay extra for excursions as expected but they tour companies running these left the resort every morning. Some of the restaurants required reservations but were still free. There was one cash bar that sold higher end drinks and 1-2 better restaurants that you had to pay for. I though the food was decent/good with some of the Dominican food being excellent. The area immediately outside of the resort has some bars and overpriced gift shops. Not worth leaving the resort except to have a look around. Everything was priced in US dollars so you don't really need to change money into Dominican Pesos. The power in the Dominican is the same as the US so you don't need power adapters on the resort, although at the airport the plugs were different. They have free WIFI in the lobby which was not very reliable. You can pay to have WIFI all over the resort, which we did for our daughter. I thought the staff was friendly and helpful. Very few of them spoke good English, none fluently... but if you don't mind trying to speak Spanish and are patient it adds to the adventure of the place. If you just want a beach without the experience of being in a foreign country then go to Florida. I rented a car to get from Punta Cana to the resort. It is about a 45 minute drive, $300 Sunday to Friday.

Loved our hut on the beach.Posted Apr 29, 2015
Very clean. Bartenders had trouble understanding our American drink orders. Free Wifi in lobby didn't work well. The fill in for our housekeeper didn't do a good job giving us towels. Took all day! Otherwise it was a wonderful vacation

Loved our hut on the beachPosted Apr 26, 2015
Free wifi does not work well at all. Should be provided with more towels in case someone wants to take more than one shower a day. Bartenders should understand American drink orders better. Beach was nice but we had to walk further down the beach for swimable water. Beachfront bungalows are the best for those who love to be close to the beach. Not enough t-shirts available for sale with Viva Wyndham on it or Bayahib. Resort was always clean and a great value for the money.

Amazing location and great facilities.Posted Apr 24, 2015
My boyfriend and I had an awesome experience at Viva Wyndham. We got a bungalow on the beach which was well worth the additional costs. The beach was beautiful crystal clear water. The food was ok, standard buffet. Drinks were good, not to watered down like most all inclusive. The bartenders were outgoing and friendly. There was entertainment every night. I would definitely return! Thank you Viva Wyndham!
