Glamping on a private island

Posted Mar 28, 2014
Pros: The location is superb: quiet, clean and safe white sand beach overlooking a blue-green bay. A private sundeck and plunge pool.
Cons: Reception should provide a two- or three-day weather forecast, to enable sensible advance planning.
Location: A private white sand island with nothing nearby except access to a neighbouring golf club; otherwise it's 20 minutes to the sister desert resort.
The Resort sits on a private island of white sand, just a short boat ride from the car park onshore. Accommodation is by way of "glamour tents", part rigid wall and part tent roof. A large King-size bed with living area and generous bathroom opens directly onto a private deck with sunbed and plunge pool. Villas are separated only by a brick wall, and a degree of respect for your neighbour's privacy is important - but it all looks and feels decadent enough to be worth the money. Anything sitting by the sea under open skies is going to suffer from the effects of exposure eventually - and this hotel is no different. Some of the tent roof fabric has seen better days; and the sunbathing furniture is bleaching under the (almost) relentless sunshine. But everything works - and if it stops working, a team will appear within minutes of calling Reception in order to fix it. If it rains, two things become rapidly obvious. The first is that, once deprived of the charming covered tables located outside facing the sea, the restaurant struggles in vain to cope: the interior restaurant space is tiny and not an attractive space - damp customers have to be ferried under umbrellas across to the Bar (also not an attractive space) in order to be fed, eventually. The second is that - if the sun does disappear - in the absence of a good book there is absolutely nothing on the island which can keep you entertained.

Nice resort with good location but....

Pros: Location
Cons: Improve house keeping & try to make swimming pool and toilet with more privacy.
Nice resort with good location but has limit activities and bad house keeping. Also not good in privacy: in swimming pool & toilet.
