It is very traditional, unique and eco-friendly property. Lovely decor in an amazingly beautiful structure. Everyone was super nice and helpful. Complimentary breakfast was delicious, eating surrounded by nature.

a gem!
awesome experience from beginning to end. even though this hotel doesn't have a swimming pool, we enjoyed the room very much. didn't use the rooftop terrace. breakfast on both days were excellent. beautiful backyard court.

Was a lovely property with beautiful quaint decor. We loved the location. The bed was comfortable and the ac was a life saver in the playa del Carmen heat. The breakfast was the best part! we would recommend!

The concept of the hotel is very unique and special! There’s so much peace around and the service and concept of the breakfast is fantastic! If you are looking to connect with nature this is definitely the place to stay. The only thing is that the front desk staff should be a little bit more friendly and warm so it could match the concept of the hotel

I stayed at this property in September without knowing a thing about it. After that 1st night I was so pleased with the staff and hotel itself that it was my 1st selection when I returned to Playa Del Carmen in December. Privately owned with the owner on site and very closely located to all the shopping and beach action you could want but on a very quiet and safe side street so you can sleep. Breakfast is a must here. It’s in the back of the courtyard and all kinds of wildlife come to visit each morning. AAA

Must Stay Truly Boutique Hotel with Personal Touch
Location 4/5: near 5th ave. its a sanctuary in a middle of a busy tourist town. They have a Junge at the back with wild animals. Only to see, no access. Beach 2/5: No Access. Public crowded beach 5 minutes walk.Seaweed everywhere. Services 5/5: Great! super helpful, friendly, free beer. One thing: I asked to provide a picture of a character to surprise my partner in a room but it wasnt done. AC, WIFI included. No Fridge but they can store your beer or anything else in a fridge at the kitchen. Free bicycles and free beach towels! No TV - its great! They provide purified water for safe drinking. Food 5/5: Breakfast included and great! Cooked personally! Not a buffet! Condition 5/5: truly rustic. Rooms are unique! Parking 4/5: 3 spots for 9 rooms. Might be busy but we were lucky to have it all the time. Will Be BACK!

A great little gem
La Semilla is a great little hotel. Having breakfast in their serene garden garden/ lounge area was the best part of our stay and if you are going to Playa Del Carmen, this is the place to stay! Only unfortunate that such a gem is located in Playa del Carmen as I don’t think Playa del Carmen in itself really has anything going for it. Nor beaches, restaurants or a good vibe.

Hotel La Semilla will change the way you travel!
Hotel La Semilla is a 9-room hotel in a perfectly non-touristy section of Playa Del Carmen. You can easily walk to the main tourist drag, but you could also spend a week not even knowing it was there. Hotel La Semilla is surrounded by wonderful restaurants and just up the street from a beautiful beach. The hotel itself is decorated stunningly in vintage items hand sourced by the owners, who handle most of the day-to-day operations of the spot. They do get help from Brito, who is an absolutely fabulous jack-of-all trades. Gabriel, the chef, makes beautiful breakfast creations that are the highlight of any morning spent in the beautiful courtyard. Hotel La Semilla is a perfect oasis in Mexico. Traditionally I've been an all inclusive type person, but my wife convinced me that we should give this place a shot. I'm so glad that we did -- it completely changed what I am looking for in future travel. Do yourself a favor and visit Hotel La Semilla -- it's a beautiful property in a beautiful area run by beautiful people!

Cute and overpriced!
A very sweet family who are clearly proud of their creation but it's way over priced for what it is. Their eclectic style is unique but their vintage chairs etc are no longer cute but uncomfortable and some even have gone beyond a little dirty so it may be time for a little upgrading furniture or pricing down. If you do choose to book, then be warned that the ground floor room stinks of terrible damp to the point where we had to move and if they hadnt moved us, we were happy to lose our deposit and move to another hotel all together. Very limited breakfast choices.

Beware the construction
The hotel is nice but there is a major construction project next door just getting started. They worked from about 9 to 5 during the week. The noise made breakfast outside unpleasant. There was heavy equipment, demolition, and hammering on the foundation that literally shook the room. The hotel told us about it after we checked in and suggested that was all they should have done. That is not enough. I would not have spent $2500 on two rooms for 6 days if I knew this was going on. Beware, this will continue for a long time as they were just digging the foundation during our stay. We also had 3 toilet clogs and one complete breakdown of the flushing apparatus during the stay.

This quiet, chic hotel was perfect. The breakfast was delicious and home made juice was wonderful. Perfect little romantic destination that is close to the beach and close to 5th.

This is an amazing little B&B which offers a tranquil environment in the madness of Playa De Carmen. The owner clearly knows what they are doing and has included all the little touches you would want to see.

Beautifully designed hotel
Beautifully designed small hotel in the best area of playa. Lovely homemade breakfast in the courtyard. Peaceful roof terrace with comfortable sun beds. Some of what made it special for me might be lost on people who aren't into design. Feels more well designed basic rather than luxury which was perfect for us.

Our experience this past week at Hotel La Semilla was marred by considerable construction noise (over which the owner Alexis had no control, of course) as well as noise from its proximity to the the 5th Avenue after hours revelry. In fact, the din of loud, bass music could be heard as a low rumble until at least 2 am each night of our stay. We were unable to drown it out even with the use of ear plugs. In addition, although we booked a King bed room, we were given a Queen. Quite possibly, we might have had our room reassigned had we asked, but we liked the balcony in our room--which was fine if not otherwise remarkable. All hotel staff were uniformly gracious, helpful, and accommodating. It's too bad about the noise. The hotel's location is otherwise excellent--near enough to 'the action' and in a perfectly safe area--but close enough to be bothered by noise. For that reason alone, we would not return. The daily use of bicycles was a definite plus, as was the very lovely interior garden. The garden provided a welcome and peaceful afternoon retreat from shopping, suntanning, and exploring. Alexis was also amazingly helpful when I thought I had lost my rental car keys. He called the rental car company and had multiple, lengthy conversation in Spanish with various unhelpful rental car people. Having to have had those conversations myself as an English speaker would have been quite frustrating! This could well be our misunderstanding but the TripAdvisor description

Magical gem
you can imagine. The delicate, intentional french country/industrial design is balanced and purposeful. Each and every detail has been attended to and executed with mastery. The lighting in the garden in the evening is breathtaking. We felt as though we were floating through a fairytale. Fresh flowers, vines, scented waters, quality linens, exceptional service and authentic hospitality set this hotel apart. We stayed in the King Suite on the top floor; the epitome of romance, the excellence of 5 star. Hotel La Semilla is placed on the north end of Playa Del Carmen. While still maintaining very close proximity to all the essentials: classy food joints, 1 minute to the beach, easy access to the "scene" (if that is your thing), yet is perfectly set in a tropical nest, hidden discretely away from the throng of tourists. The staff were exemplary and the breakfast delicious. Impressive. Will certainly return at the first chance.

Well located boutique hotel. Outstanding breakfast
We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights and had a great time. The owner and staff are terrific, they get to know everyone personally. Fantastic breakfast in the mornings - a real highlight and included in out stay. A cute, boutique setting in a location right between the beach and Fifth Avenue. Great restaurant next door as well. Highly recommended...it really was a great location - easy to walk to beach (5-10 min?) and fifth avenue 2 minutes away. Quiet

solo el tamaño de la habitación pero pésima recepción, el cuarto sucio, no tienen teléfono en las habitaciones para hablar a recepción, aire acondicionado viejo y sucio, lo quieren hacer muy vintage, los productos de aseo personal pésiimos no se por que Marriot los aceptó como parte de sus hoteles. Todo se ve viejo y percudido, cero medidas de seguridad anti covid, los de recepción ni siquiera con mascarillas, no hay gel antibacterial. Quieren hacerlo como un hotel boutique de alta gama per lejos, Mucho ruido. El agua de las jarras de dudosa procedencia vs agua embotellada y si lo quieren hacer disque ecológico también hay botella embotellada en botellas de vidrio.
