Open and Airy New Modern Farmhouse on Lake Sheila

The open and airy new modern farmhouse sleeps 8 with 4 bedrooms and 3 ½ baths, and the well-equipped, large, modern kitchen has everything you need for cooking meals in. There’s a cozy gas fireplace in the living room and a ping pong table, games, toys, and a smart TV in the lounge area downstairs. Take advantage of our small library of books, DVDs, and CDs. (Please note that satellite internet is available but the quality is not guaranteed.) Enjoy grilling on the wrap-around porch, which has a comfy seating area and an outdoor dining table. The home is steps away from Lake Sheila, which is a beautiful, quiet, private lake suitable for swimming, fishing (no license required), and paddling. When you walk out the back door, there’s a path down to a dock with lounge chairs where you can enjoy the view. The home includes access to an adult and child’s paddleboards, a paddle boat and kayak, plus PFDs. On the way down to the lake, there’s a fire pit which is perfect for family gatherings in the evenings. There is also a small beach with 2 docks and picnic tables available to guests just a 10-minute walk from the house.
Saluda has a cute downtown with several restaurants, shops, general stores, and galleries. Grab breakfast and coffee at Wakey Monkey Cafe, lunch at Green River Barbeque, and dinner at the Purple Onion, where you might catch a live bluegrass show. Stock up on gourmet groceries and local products at the Historic Thompson’s Store. Plan outdoor adventures and buy needed gear at Saluda Outfitters. Pamper yourself in nearby Flat Rock, where you can get your hair or nails done, or enjoy a massage if you’re looking to unwind. Spend a day with family and friends in the treetops on a zipline adventure, on the water with guided raft tours of the Green River, and on local trails hiking to nearby overlooks and waterfalls. Visit the Tryon Equestrian Center for dining, shopping, and horse shows. Or, stay close to home enjoying the lake or sipping hot chocolate and playing games by the fire. If cycling is something you enjoy, the roads around Saluda are commonly used for races and training. The lake house is also conveniently located within an hour from Asheville, Hendersonville, Tryon, and Greenville, each of which have a thriving downtown scene with excellent dining and arts.

Better than advertised!
Short trip! Surprisingly cooler weather than hoped for! House was as good or better than advertised! Centrally located to a multitude of great hikes, state parks, Asheville and Greenville, and situated on its own 27 acre lake! Host checked on us during our stay but we did not need anything as everything was in order and taken care of for us! Great place to stay!

Great Getaway
We really enjoyed our stay at this lake house in Saluda! Easy keypad access and plenty of space for our family of 5. Bedrooms on all 3 levels of the home make it easy to spread out when you want and an awesome entertainment and play space in the basement great for spending quality time together. We really enjoyed all of the games and ping pong table! The home is beautifully designed and decorated with a modern kitchen and bathrooms. You get the cabin feel you want but also really nice amenities. There is an awesome wrap around porch, but we didn’t get to spend much time there due to the time of year we visited but would be tons of fun in the warmer months. The kitchen was well stocked with quality pots, pans and dishes and the pantry had several basics needed to make meals. The tea and coffee selection was also a really nice touch! We only lost the internet connection once but otherwise, were able to stay on the wifi without any issues. There is about a 40 minute commute to get to the things we wanted to do in Asheville but we enjoyed the drive as well as being away from the hustle and bustle. If you are looking for a great space for a family get-away just outside of Asheville, this home is a great option!

Mountain Lake Paradise
This house has so many pluses. Absolutely gorgeous inside and out. Lots to keep you busy and so many ways to relax you. Loved the simple things like assortment of teas and coffees to chose from to enjoy on the magnificent porch. So much room. There was mention about internet being spotty but we had really no issue. Hope they will let us visit many more times. Not one issue.

Outstanding Lake Sheila, Saluda Property
We have family in Saluda and have been visiting for almost 3 decades. We have stayed in many properties but have a new favorite thanks to the lakefront location, large square footage and # of beds/baths. The home is even larger and nicer than it appeared in pics, not to mention practically brand new. I can’t think of anything desirable in a home that was not included, and am very happy to recommend for any large family visiting the Saluda area.

An amazing family getaway!
The lake house on Lake Sheila was beautiful and everything our family was looking for! The bunkbed room down stairs and the two rooms upstairs were a perfect fit for our two families! Our teenagers quickly forgot about the spotty wi-fi as soon as they saw the peddle boat, paddle boards, kayak and gorgeous lake! We all had a wonderful time making smore's at the fire pit and playing in the lake! The kids were way too busy playing in the grassy yard, exploring the woods, spying on the deer or swimming in the lake to even think about watching tv. The house had all the amenities of home, a well stocked Keurig was much appreciated, and we were glad to use the outside grill a few times for dinner on the wrap around balcony. Kelda was great to work with, very responsive and quick to respond every step of the way. We would love to plan another trip soon and will certainly look to stay at the Lake house again soon! thanks for sharing your beautiful home and wonderful hospitality!

Wonderful place to relax & unwind
The house was beautiful, very clean, and well-equipped. Kelda was wonderful to work with. She was very quick to respond during the booking & rental process. The beach area of the lake was a great place to hang out on the water and interact with local residents as well as other travelers. Cell service & internet access being very limited in the area was a huge plus. Being unplugged is a wonderful thing for families. The house is very close to Saluda for supplies, restaurants, or activities such as tubing on the river. A great vacation!

An absolutely wonderful setting for our family Christmas!
Exactly as pictured. Spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated. Comfortable beds and plenty of clean linens and bathroom essentials. The kitchen is a dream with all the amenities and lots of room to gather to cook together. Kelda had lovely Christmas decorations up and we spent many cozy evenings in front of the fireplace. She was very responsive to any questions we had, but then left us alone to enjoy our stay. As describe by the owners, cell phone reception is not strong but we were able to make calls/send texts. We also found that we had enough bandwidth from the satellite to watch TV, check email and “lightly” surf websites, just not all at the same time. If you require high connectivity, keep that in mind. For our visit, this was not an issue and we can say it was truly a wonderful home and experience. Would highly recommend!
