Pretty grounds, terrible service, nonsense fees

Posted May 1, 2015
The place itself is very pretty however- I called for early check in and left a message. No one ever called back. Then I thought I left something (very valuable UGH) in the room so my nerves were a little wrecked and again I left them and message and no one ever called back. So no answer and no call back either time. (I found my item PHEW). Anyways, the place is nice the rooms are nice but parking fees and hotel fees (your charging me for wifi and pool access? And a couple bottles of water? Get out of here that's almost insulting...) along with the crap service really takes it's toll.

Three night Stay

Posted Apr 28, 2015
Pros: Staff, relaxing atmosphere
Cons: Restaurant
Location: Close to UCSD and to La Jolla
Front desk desk staff wre excellent and car valet fast. Rooms were good, and as expected at this price point. Only down side was thew wine bar restaurant where we had lunch, it was overpriced for the fod served. I had a simple fish and chipos and has 3 minute scraps of fish of decent quality, but barely enough for a 5 year old and not an adult. Also other entrees were of barely OK quality and would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Also the gym at the spa was very small and stuffy with medium quality equipment.

Nice location but hotel requires updates.

Posted Apr 23, 2015
I could not see through my window as it was covered with calcium. Hotel enforce valet parking policy where parking is really set up for guest parking in front of the rooms. Result is long walks and uncessary wait.

さすが高級ホテル

UCSDに用事があったため利用しました。 宿泊をとても楽しむことができました。唯一の難点はその日やっていたはずのパドレス対ジャイアンツの試合が見られるTVチャンネルがなかったことです。

Wonderful, calming property.

Posted Apr 11, 2015
Pros: Beautiful linens and towels.
Cons: I wish the patio area was large oug for two people to sit. It was tiny with room for one chair.
Location: la Jolla has many restaurants and gorgeous places to visit.
Staff was excellent, helpful and friendly. The gardens were lush and eaceful. Outdoor fireplace add atmosphere and make the bar area cozy and inviting.

Close to where we wanted to visit in San diego

Posted Apr 11, 2015
Our family of four two adults two children (ages 4 and 9) chose this hotel for our mini San diego vacation. Hotel was clean comfortable and the valet/bell guys were friendly and helpful. Short drive to sea world, mission beach (Belmont park), downtown la jolla. Pizza on pearl and The Spot were good eats. La jolla cove and children's pool were nice to see the seals briefly due to the bad smell. Beautiful coastline though with crystal clear water. Nice treat to swim in the hotel's heated pool after a day of San diego fun. Stopped at a Von's to fill our cooler with drinks and other snack items. Hotel rooms have a cooler box not an actual plug in refrigerator. Kept our fruit items cool.

Only One Problem

Posted Mar 23, 2015
Pros: Grounds
Cons: Valet communication
We had to wait 1 hour to get our car when we were ready to leave, I know there was a big wedding party, but this was unacceptable, because they had made a mistake and did not go to get our car. This made a bad ending to what would have been a 5 star stay.

Beautiful landscaping!

Posted Feb 28, 2015
The property has amazing landscaping, the flowers and succulents provide a beautiful environment. The location was perfect for our tour of UC of SD. The only downside was my smoke alarm kept beeping and no one showed up to fix it and I finally had to leave the room. The second room had no issues.

Serene

Posted Feb 27, 2015
Pros: Everything--see above.
Cons: Cannot think of anything.
Location: We were in La Jolla to visit with family, whom we brought to Estancia. Did not even think of other distractions.
We have returned many times to this lovely place. And, we were not disappointed this trip. Estancia is serene and a stay, most relaxing. The location and space is beautiful; the staff welcoming; dining is relaxing and promotes convivial conversation and the whole experience enables unwinding.

Fine place to relax in the Torrey Pines area

Posted Feb 13, 2015
Pros: The casual welcoming feel of staying in a grand estate.
Cons: The traffic situation coming south from Los Angeles. Beyond Estancia's control, I suppose.
Location: Multi-screen movie house down the hill. La Jolla village minutes away. Solana Beach art shop street. San Diego old-town and Little Italy.
We go often. A terrific non-hotel experience. Has the feel of a beautiful Spanish style estate where guests are surrounded by landscaped grounds, low-rise buildings, and a friendly staff. Evenings can be spent at the outside bar, the inside bar, or an inside wine bar. There is nothing better than Margueritas, chips, and salsa by the outside fire. Or a full meal in the restaurant, if preferred. Very close to La Jolla, or Del Mar and Solana Beach. San Diego is 20 minutes or so south.
