“great place while in treasure island”

have stayed here several times never had a bad expierence. did have some tiny ants, have had this problem in serveral hotels in fla. wish they would find the miracle spray to kill them. the sunsets are incredible as the sun is swallowed by the gulf.

“very nice hotel”

the thunderbird was very conveniently located, right on the beach and in walking distance to shopping and restaurants. The hotel is older, but was very clean and the staff was friendly and accomodating. Pool and hot tub also very clean. We would definitely recommend this place and would also go back

“Positive unexpected surprise”

We knew the hotel was a 3 star hotel, but were very positively surprised by the cleanliness of the room and grounds and how pleasant all the staff was. I would reccomend this to anyone wanting to have a good family location to stay

“Excellent hotel, go there....”

Fantastic location (ON the beach), clean and friendly, lively (Tiki beach bar and music during the day), close to restaurants (walk not drive) and shops, and reasonably priced.

“wouldn't go back”

Hotel facilities very nice and good location on the beach. However, live music at pool was 24/7 and very monotonous. Also people who were not guests would come off the beach or boardwalk take the chairs and drink at the TIKI bar. We were practically pushed out of our lounge chairs by a very rude group of people.

Area recommendations

enjoyed spring training game at bright house field in clearwater, and aquarium in tampa. Ricky T's best restuarant for casual dining. John's Pass good area for shopping and arrangements for charter fishing . All on Treasure Island.

When to go

second week in march provided excellent florida weather. 85 degrees and sunny seven days in a row on treasure island.

Getting around

you need a car to get around. also tampa airport 45 minute drive.

Outdoors or beach

beaches are wide and white sand. very pretty. ocean swimming seems safe, but there are signs that mention care about stepping on stingrays.

“Nice hotel”

This Hotel was very clean and nice. They have done some upgrades but the hotel is still a little on the older side, but for the price it was great.

“Nice Hotel on a budget in a great location”

The front desk staff was very pleasant, and the hotel is kept clean and tidy, especially considering all of the sand! This Hotel is in a great location on Treasure Island, and it has been kept up well considering the age of the hotel. It has a lot of charm. One of the downsides is that we were there in the winter on a chilly weekend, and there seemed to be no heat in the room. It was still relatively warm in the room, but I would not want to be there during a prolonged cold front. The bathrooms were clean but definitely on the small side. The rooms are clean, and the grounds and pool are kept looking very nice. We would love to go back to this hotel in the summer when we could enjoy all of the facilities.
