Many of Pisa’s attractions are close to Vecchiano, so it is a convenient place to base yourself. Two of the most interesting places to see are the fabulous Ripafratta Castle and the incredible Camposanto. Two other recommended attractions that are close by Vecchiano are Pisa Baptistry and the Piazza del Duomo.
Vecchiano offers some interesting museums and theaters within easy reach that allow visitors to really get a feel for the area. See if you can spot the area’s wildlife with a visit to a lake in the area such as Massaciuccoli Lake in Viareggio.
Sights such as Leaning Tower, Santa Caterina and the Piazza dei Miracoli are well worth visiting during your time in the Vecchiano area,. To learn about the role of faith in Pisa, spend a little time at the area’s holy places, such as the St. Francis Church, the Church of San Nicola and the San Zeno Church.
If you have a passion for sports, you'll love seeing local favorites, the A.C. Pisa 1909, doing battle at Arena Garibaldi. On game days follow the river of navy, black and red, to the stadium, then after the full-time hooter blows, join local soccer lovers in the nearby pubs and relive the action over a friendly drink or two.
