Yonago Vacations

Yonago is situated in a popular part of Tottori, a part of the world criss-crossed with exquisite beaches, coastal plains and mountains.

From Yonago, it's roughly 85 miles (137 kilometers) to the southwest to Hiroshima and 120 miles (193 kilometers) to the southeast to Kobe.

To find out why so many holiday-makers keep choosing Tottori as a vacation spot, make sure you schedule in some time to explore the wider area. Make tracks to Daisen, and pay a visit to the Akita Agriculture Science Museum and Koshio Shrine. Daisen is 12 miles (19 kilometers) from Yonago and a good place to visit. Alternatively you could check out the Matsue Castle and Gesshoji Temple in Matsue. It is 16 miles (26 kilometers) away from Yonago.

When you come to Yonago, don't forget to experience Okayama. Approximately 65 miles (105 kilometers) away, this regional transport and shopping hub is home to Hayashibara Museum of Art, Achi Shrine and Yumeji Art Museum. Korakuen Garden, Notre Dame Seishin University and Oriental Museum are some other popular places worth checking out for those who find themselves with time to spare.

Allowing time to memorize a little of Japanese separates the savvy travelers from the mere tourists. One example of a hand local phrase is "Isshoni odorimasenka?" (Would you like to dance with me?). Or try "Benjo wa doko desu ka?" (Where's the toilet?).

When it is time to depart Yonago, put the lens cap back on your camera, spend your last of your yen on last-minute souvenirs, and bid Sayōnara (farewell) to this wonderful spot.
