"I stayed 9 nights (Feb 24) in Residence Zanzibar together with my 3 daughters (13, 17, 20y.) to have "onetime" holiday that included also safari in Tanzania. Hotel is situated approx. 90min far from an airport, surrounded by a tropical garden. Hotel offers only villas with private pools. "The overall experience was great. The staff is friendly and responsive. I particularly liked the food served at Aqua, which is why I was disappointed at the food quality from Carnivorous. The food was served luke warm at best and the meats did not meet the standards one would expect from a reservations only establishment. Maybe you should take a cue from the food consumption and wastage on a night by night basis at Carnivorous."

"The Royal Zanzibar Resort has stunning views of the ocean, a white sand beach, plenty of activities to participate in, and gorgeous pools and restaurants. A highlight for me was eating at The Cliff Restaurant which has amazing views. The open air gym was nice for a workout in the morning. The room was very spacious and the bed was very comfortable. All the staff go out of their way to make your experience enjoyable. They advise you of the government imposed tax, and other than that, there were no hidden fees. The price I paid through Expedia included all I could eat and drink at the resort! I highly recommend this place. I travelled here alone as a woman and felt completely safe on the property. "
