Mashariki is a gem within the heart of Stone Town. It is a well located and beautifully restored palace done with great class and empathy for the original architecture and history matched by great service and hospitality!!

It is a new hotel and the only one on the east coast that far north. The views are stunning and there is always activitiy on the sea - from dhows passing, women fishing at low tide, etc. The staff could not have been more friendly/helpful - nothing was too much trouble. your poolside chair towels were changed if they looked wet without you asking. The food was excellent - particularly the Jetty restaurant for lunch - great food/service with stunning views. They were very child friendly from our observation. We will certainly return!
