Kowloon Shangri-La, Hong Kong
5/5 Excellent
"We recently stayed at the Kowloon Shangri-la and had a mixed experience. The location is absolutely fantastic, right in the heart of the city with easy access to major attractions, restaurants, and public transportation. It's perfect for anyone looking to explore the city.
The food at the hotel's restaurant was another highlight. Unfortunately we only got to try the breakfast buffet but I must say, it offered a wide variety of delicious options, with fresh ingredients and excellent presentation. Loved the fact that it had a menu catering to people from all over the world.
However, the service left much to be desired. The staff seemed to absolutely lack courteousness, hospitality and friendliness. There was absolutely no smile on their faces and the entire experience seemed very transactional with both the front office and the F&B staff. During check-in, there was a long wait, and the front desk staff appeared overwhelmed. The only 2 teams that were really helpful and made our stay worth remembering was the housekeeping and the concierge. The concierge and bell desk especially were extremely efficient and eager to assist. Huge thanks to Dante from the bell desk.
Another disappointment was the size of the swimming pool. Never in my life have I come across a 5 star property with a swimming pool the size of a puddle.
Overall, the hotel has a lot of potential, but the management needs to address the service issues and facilities to truly provide a great stay for its guests."
