We initially booked a cabin thru the hotel and it was not clean (dust bunnies on floor, hair in the bathroom and shower, etc) and for the cost it was very disappointing. We were able to switch to a hotel room for more money, but it was worth it for a clean room with nicer amenities. The dining room breakfast was good but pricey. We tried a bagel sandwich from the deli one day and were given a cold bagel with two cold pieces of cheese and cold egg for $11 to microwave ourselves. Not a great experience given the cost of staying there.

Beautiful hotel on the lake. Looks like it was recently refurbished. Lots of elk around. Notice for travelers—it is an old hotel so bring earplugs. We were on first floor so we heard footsteps above us loud and clear. Also not much food nearby so make a reservation for dinner or eat in small deli. We didn’t make a reservation for dinner our second night and they were full. Ate at old Faithful Inn. Wouldn’t recommend. Service was poor and food not so good. Great Inn to visit and grab a coffee. Or eat at nearby General Store.

What isn't mentioned in any advertising is that even though this is a very expensive hotel they lack basic amenities. There is no cell service which makes communication hard.(Not their problem. There is NO Wi-Fi (in this day and age,go figure). There is no refrigerator, no television (not such a big deal) no USB ports to charge your phone and no tea in the room. (It seems Americans only drink coffee) The building is old, has heritage listing. The room we were allocated it sounded like a herd of elephants in the room above and the floor boards squeak badly. We asked to change room which we were given which was marginally better. Woken by footsteps, water in pipes, showers and toilet flushing. There was no milk in the room and when queried was told I could buy it from the coffee shop. When we had breakfast which was $20 (not worth it) the person who came to the table said don't expect any service as we worked last night and again this morning. Shortly after the man at the next table asked if they had hot chocolate. Response: I don't know I only clean tables. To sum up, the hotel was booked out so someone must like it, but I certainly wouldn't return. Great location and nice looking building but far overpriced.
