Featuring The Cloud and Shed 10, this iconic waterside attraction is one of the best places in the city for fun events and activities.

The Queens Wharf is the marina area that crowns the main street of central Auckland. It is easily recognizable by the enormous undulating white bubble known as The Cloud, an iconic landmark in the city’s skyline with the shape of a caterpillar. Attend some of the lively events held in this multi-purpose arena by the water.

Admire the curvature of the modern cloud-like structure, which lights up in bright colors during events. Stroll along the concrete wharf and enjoy views of the scenic Hauraki Gulf and Oneoneroa, which is also known as Shoal Bay. Participate in pop-up events that take place on the pier, including summer barbecues next to Waitemata Harbour. Sit on one of the colorful chairs and watch luxury cruisers glide in and out of the marina.

Another highlight along the pier is the Shed 10 building, serving as a cruise ship terminal and events area. Join some of the activities based in this classic structure, which resembles a large white warehouse. The building dates back to 1910, making it the only remaining structure from the wharf’s inception. Take a cruise around the harbor and look back on The Cloud and Shed 10 from a distance. From here, you can also head out on an ocean safari in search of whales and dolphins.

Embark on a guided excursion with the Auckland Free Walking Tours, starting at the base of the wharf. Learn about how Queens Wharf underwent major redevelopment efforts in preparation for the city’s hosting of the 2011 Rugby World Cup.

The Queens Wharf lies on the waterfront in the center of Auckland, on the North Island of New Zealand. It lines the northern side of the city center, facing Bayswater across Shoal Bay. Arrive at the adjacent Britomart railway station. Explore the surroundings for nearby highlights such as the Auckland District Court, the ASB Waterfront Theatre and the New Zealand Maritime Museum.
