"Our room for a family of four is a bit cramped and there was a strong odor coming from the shower drain. Just needed to keep the doors closed. This is a modern hotel with self check in and out but I didn't care for that and the staff weren't friendly. The town is wonderful. A beautiful mix of old and new. Everything was within walking distance so we didn't need to use the transit system but we would've liked to as it looked so well run and sleek. It was fun to see bicyclists everywhere."

"Wonderful older hotel. Breakfast buffet was a highlight of our day and very reasonably priced. Rooms are clean and good sized. The hotel is steps from the S-bahn station so it's very easy to get anywhere in the city but be aware that the street and tracks are noisy and as an older building there is no air conditioning. Also, no guest laundry despite the listing saying there is. Hotel manager is friendly and speaks english"

"We were just passing through Altenburg staying for one night so booked this based on price rather than aesthetic appeal and had no expectations of greatness. We were very pleasantly surprised. The receptionist was very pleasant and helpful. The room was large and clean with a good bathroom. The bar also helped things along. Overall I would recommend this hotel, it is much better than the picture would suggest. "
