Great service at this hotel

This was our first time at the W but won’t be our last.We were greeted with "welcome to the W Hotel New Orleans what’s your wish? Check in was painless. The Concierge was very accommodating and helpful getting us our reservations.Complimentary Acura car service was a bonus. Our room was a bit neglected but was quickly rectified by moving us to a newly refurbished room.We had to go down to one of the two restaurants to get coffee in the a.m. it would have been nice to have a coffee maker in the room. Overall it was a great hotel with a sexy vibe.

Traveler's tip on dining

The purpose of our trip was to eat. We highly recommend Lilette,Stella and Restaurant August for dinner. Oysters from Acme oyster house and the seafood platter at Deanie’s(1/2 platter big enough for two)and Mothers for a ham biscuit that truly is as good as your mothers of course don’t forget beignet from Cafe Dumonde.

Does Not Represent ’W’ well

I normally love the W because of its chic style and great customer service. However, this hotel is poorly maintained - the phones in my room did not work and the tiles in the bathroom were coming apart. Also, their customer service is just average; they’re not really good at problem solving.

clean, comfortable and relaxing

I enjoyed my stay in the "W" New Orleans, I had stayed there 4 years ago . This year it was again my preference to stay there. It is modern looking, comfortable and nice hotel. Thanks to all staff as they were so kind and helpfull all the time.

I will stay there again

The staff were so helpful during our stay for SIGGRAPH 2009. I was very impressed that they would offer to print my boarding passes for my return trip, ensuring I would get into Boarding Group A.

Love the decoration.

I loved the contemporary look of the hotel and the friendliness of the staff. This was my 1st stay in Aug. 2009 and I would definitely stay here again in the future. I would also recommend this hotel to family and friends. I loved the pool area as well as the work-out facility. The room was gorgeous, especially the view.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

I would definitely recommend going to Oceana’s Restaurant and walking on Bourbon street. I live in New Orleans already and I still frequent these places- I haven’t tired of them yet!

Very nice hotel

Would definitely stay again. The rooms look exactly like the pictures. It was in walking distance to everything. They upgraded our room by accident so when we tried to use our keys to get back into our room they didnt work. To compensate for the minor inconvinience they gave us free in room breakfast.

The thermostat in our room was busted. It was too hot to sleep comfortably.

The hotel was gorgeous. Very sleek, chic and contemporary. I was disappointed they no longer have Aveda products in the bathroom.

great hote!

We really enjoyed our stay, the only gripe we had was that the room service menu was being changed and we were told that the changes would be the next day, then the next ,then the nest! The food was good however! Loved being right at the Casino, shopping and Mother’s...

Concigere and front desk staff were delightful!

Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Improvement needed in housekeeping. I think they were short handed and sometimes our room wasn’t cleaned until very late in the afternoon. Would stay again.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Close to french quarter and farmer’s market and wonderful restaurants. Commander’s Palace outstanding for dinner. Little far from the W Hotel, so need to take a cab.

If you like constantly being frustrated, then you’ll love your stay here

Not only would I never stay at this hotel again, but I will seriously think twice before booking/staying in any W hotel in the future. The room keys rarely worked (you also needed these same keys for the elevator...which again, rarely worked), broken TV (no tv), the first room I was given had not yet been cleaned from the prior guest (dirty towels on the floor/unmade bed)a staff that didn’t seem to care. Ugh...really bad.

A TRENDY SLICE OF HEAVEN!

W is a trendy hotel without the attitude. My husband & I were treated like royalty from the first curtain pull (you’ll see what that means when you get there) to the last. The room was more than comfortable & quite accommodating in almost every way. Having the Acura drive us around at no extra charge was also a nice touch.

Traveler's tip

The only part that we were not happy with was, we requested a coffee pot in the room. Although our stay was for four nights, they only provided us a two day coffee supply. Not a big deal because we are coffee snobs (ha ha) & brought our own. The part that we were unhappy with was that the maid service did not clean the coffee pot, leaving us to do so on a daily basis.

Worst hotel stay ever!

This is absolutely the worst experience I have ever had at any hotel. 1. The bathroom in our room was not clean. The toilet and floor mat were visibly soiled. 2. The shower did not hardly drain. The result was about a foot of water standing in the shower while one took a shower. 3. Cleaning service would take the existing towels and soap, but didn’t replace the soap or wash clothes in the room twice during our stay. 4. The hotel for two days did not have any coffee creamer or half & half. What kind of hotel runs out of important condiments like cream? Couldn’t someone get in a car and go buy some from Wal-Mart? Do not stay at this hotel! It is definitely not a four star hotel. I have stayed a low level motels that are better managed than this property.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Take time to see the D-day museum. It is a wonderful museum.

Dirty and unkept

For a more modern hotel, you would expect so much more but no - instead you have the luxury to sleep on the most uncomfortable bed ever. And with regards to cleanliness - I do no want to open draws and find rubbish from someone else’s stay plus does the W consider cleaning - just making the beds and changing the towels. The floors were never vacuumed. The bathroom itself was chipping away. The W charges so much money - why not make repairs and be a 4 star hotel as opposed to charging 4 star prices.

W Hotel near the French Quarter

The W is of course very trendy. It is within walking distance to the quarter and since it is right outside, it remains quiet. Not too much room noise either. There is a cool wine bar just up the street - WINO. And use the concierge and free car service - they are definitely perks! August Restaurant is just down the street and quite good. Also, plan a trip to Magazine St and the Garden District to get out of the quarter. Cool shops and fun bars / restaurants, like Bulldog Pub and Creole Creamery.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Make sure to have exact change $1.25 for each ride on the St Charles Street Car. The Lafayette Cemetary near Commanders Palace is only open 7 - 12pm on Saturdays and closed Sundays. Tulane and Loyola are on the streetcar stop and are across the street from Audubon Park. A nice place to stop and relax!

W on Poydress NEVER AGAIN

Did not make up room until I called twice - finally came at 6:30pm. Took 20 minutes and three calls before finally receiving assistance getting on line in room. Outdoor furniture is most uncomfortable ever - designed so people will not sit outside and enjoy. Service in restaurant was slow and water glass was dirty. Gave up on eating because of wait for service.

Nice Hotel but Beware

The hotel is "Swanky Chic" and we enjoyed our stay except for 2 negative experiences. First be warned if you pull into the hotel to check in eventhough we were not parking our car their they will charge you. To top it all off when we returned to get the keys to the car the valet took off across the street and was gone for 20 minutes looking for our car in the garage after we told him it was right in front of him. The other problem we had was noisy kids in the rooms surrounding us who raised a lot of hell and smoked in the non-smoking room which filtered into ours both the noise and the smoke. The hotel is wonderful except for these 2 bad experiences.

Great Employees but horrible facilities

W New Orleans has some of the best employees I have ever encountered. However, the facilities and what the employees have to work with is subpar. Nothing in my room worked. I had to keep getting keys for my room. Since the theme color is black, everything about the hotel is dark.

Great hotel

This hotel was wonderful. Close to the riverfront, close to the French Quarter. The staff couldn’t have been more friendly. My only complaint was the menu in the restaurant....very limited. But I would definitely stay there again.

Great Place to Stay!!

My roommate and I stayed there for spring break. The hotel is absolutely lovely with an ultra-modern, sheek design to it. The lounge was a hot night spot and the pool area was a lot of fun with a great view of the city. This is a place I would definitely go back to

Traveler's tip on dining

There is an excellent restaurant by the W Hotel (1 or 2 blocks away) called August. It’s a fairly small but upscale restaurant that was a great experience. They also let you bring in your own bottles of wine if you would like! We brought 2 bottles with us and had a fabulous meal. Another place I will be back to...
