Helpful Receptionist Made Up for Poor facilities
The actual room didnt look like in the pictures at all. The interior of the hotel doesnt look like it was renovated in 1997. However, the receptionist was very helpful in assisting with my visit around the city, which I think is very important when staying in a city not your own.

Best feature: cheap
Very squeaky door. Shared bathroom, no soap, also door squeaked. Wondered how many people I woke up during the night. Bed was a cot with a sprung, dorm-room mattress. 1 chair, tiny table. Sheets and floor were clean. Upper west side near Central Park was close to where I needed to be, and it was cheap, but not exactly comfortable.

Overall very impressed
Chocolat Hotel was slightly out of the way but not annoyingly so. Arrived in the dark by myself my first time in NYC. Thankfully Id checked out before leaving, the location in relation to the subway, an easy ride from Penn stn to 96th St, then I got in a cab for ease, just a few minutes. Very easy walk to Broadway and Central Park West, the hotels surrounds are very nice. The room was small with a bunk bed and sink, but was very clean and warm, really just what youd need for a night or 3. The hotel is basic but there are necessities including internet access and information on local sights and activities in the foyer. For a budget hotel/hostel, Id recommend this to anyone looking for no frills!!
