Good location in St. Louis' central west end.

Posted Aug 21, 2016
Pros: Tastefully decorated and well maintained. All the staff were friendly and cordial.
Cons: Nothing in particular comes to mind.
We stayed four nights. It was a good location from which to get to meet-ups with our friends there.

Very nice hotel.

Posted Aug 13, 2016
Pros: Very nice hotel with movie theaters. Very nice variety of dining options.
Cons: It seems like there is an old side and a new side of the hotel. The old side needs to be updates, so that all guests feel treated equally.
Location: Walking distance to Central West End and to Forest Park.
As a single, female traveler, I felt very comfortable at the hotel. I had dinner alone several times outside by the pool and I would eat there every night if I could. Hotel staff was very nice and helpful.

we had a junior suite but the view was of the roof

Posted Aug 11, 2016
Pros: staff very professional and friendly pool area very nice loved having the theater which we took advantage of the spa was awesome had 2 massages
Cons: paying attention to phones so guest can have questions answered.
Location: tons of restaurants and shops Cathedral Basilica which was be beautiful forest park, zoo, science center very close so much to see and do
when you had a question and tried to call no one ever answered the phone....not the front desk, not room service and twice not the operator.....valet and spa were the only consistent areas that answered their phone. had to go downstairs to front desk to get questions answered then when I was returning to my room the key card would not work so that I could go up in the elevator long waits to get your car out of valet once when we returned for the evening there was no one there to take the car we waited almost 20 mins before finally going inside to the valet check and handing her the keys while the valet stood there talking to her......I told them I had been waiting and was tired, gave them the keys and of course then they apologized. The hotel itself is beautiful however it does require renovations....the windows open which is nice as most hotels they do not but there were holes in the screens....bath caulking was horrible mess....just needs a refresher this could be a really nice hotel again if given some attention.

Great historic hotel, right by Forest Park

Posted Aug 10, 2016
Pros: The air of history, the room size, the friendliness of the staff.
Cons: The only two negatives to mention: my breakfast room service was about half an hour late from the time I requested, and the hotels many bars close pre
Location: You'll be within walking distance of Forest Park, with several museums, the zoo, paddleboat rentals, and more.
You feel like you've stepped back in time as soon as you enter. My room was huge ... a suite that included a sitting area, dining area, entry vestibule, and writing alcove, in addition to the bedroom and bathroom.

Very nice historic hotel in St. Louis

Posted Aug 6, 2016
Pros: Great location, terrific staff, nice rooms and amenities.
Cons: time to refurbish a few things, like carpets.
Location: Close to the park and museums. Easy to get to everything. Waking distance to some great restaurants.
Enjoyed the Chase Park Plaza on our second visit. We like historic hotels and this one works on a lot of levels. Old Route 66 place, classy renovated old hotel, very nice rooms with good bars and restaurants very close to the park and all the museums. Staff are courteous. Valet parking is pricey for St. Louis, but convenient. We got an upgrade to a king suite and a couple of drinks, too. Nice except there was no refrigerator and the housekeepers didn't replenish the coffee. Would recommend and hope they are planning to redo carpets sometime soon.

Quartos grandes, porém sujos e mal conservados

Posted Jul 27, 2016

Great older "classic" hotel in St. Louis

Posted Jul 18, 2016
Pros: Perfect location on west side of St. Louis next to Forest Lawn Park and close to major medical/hospital complex. Overnight parking expense $19/night
Location: great restaurants and movie theater walking distance. Beautiful park to walk/jog in.

The hotel was nice, but not the staff's attitude.

Posted Jul 17, 2016
Pros: The history, the architecture, and the location. You can easily walk to Forest Park or trendy Maryland Plaza.
Cons: The lobby -- perhaps to mask the smell of popcorn from the hotel's movie theaters -- smelled like restroom deodorizer.
The hotel is old -- we picked for that reason -- and while "hip" may be a stretch it is pretty cool. But the website characterizations as elegant, gracious and luxurious will always be off the mark as long as the service fails to meet those standards. Our reservation was for a Deluxe Room (Chase) and I called the hotel to clarify that meant the room was in the original Chase Hotel building. When we checked in we were on the third floor of the adjacent residential tower with a beautiful view of a roof and mechanical equipment. We understood that the hotel was full, but it was not the first time we got the impression that guests who book on Expedia get the less desirable rooms. We also got an email from Expedia telling us that we would receive a "valuable amenity" -- two free drinks and free WiFi (which was free anyway), but no mention of these was made at check-in. When I showed the email to the front desk I was told "it looks like you're supposed to get vouchers for free drinks". When I didn't respond he added "do you want them"? This seemed to be another example of guest booking through Expedia being treated as somehow second-class. The missed housekeeping completed the trifecta, but it was the arrogant and condescending manner of the staff that sealed the deal -- the front desk, the bartender, and our waiter all acted like they were doing us a favor by letting us stay there. It's a nice hotel, but it's not that nice, and the staff needs to get over themselves.
