I think the reviews that stated this "Secrets" property was inferior to other sister properties was correct. We realized that Beryl had just passed through and some of the damage was still obvious. Had we known the extent of the damage prior to leaving, we would have either tried to re-book at another property or move our vacation to another date.

The property is very run down. We went there over 10 years ago, and nothing has been done since. It doesn't look like the pictures on Expedia for sure. The couch in the room was worse than a college dorm room...horrible. Food was good but the restaurants weren't open every night. The service was very slow...seemed like they were short on staff. We waited over an hour just to check in. We won't be going back.

I was very anxious coming to this resort because of some of the reviews. I am glad I didn’t listen to them! This resort was amazing! 10/10 will come back and would recommend. We were greeted at check-in with a drink and a cool towel. Our room was exactly as advertised (swim up pool). The whole staff was amazing and kind. Everyone was so helpful and accommodating. We stayed for 7 nights (ended up being 8 nights because our flight was canceled the day we planned to leave!). The pools and beach were fabulous and the food was great! I saw several reviews stating the food was awful, that was not the case for us at all. The restaurants cycle through being open every night and we never got bored of our options. The drinks were good and always flowing! We did not do any of the entertainment while we were here, but they had multiple events daily for guests. When you arrive, they do ask you to attend a meeting (they swear it’s not a timeshare) where they give you a whole pitch on a membership through Hyatt. We went to the meeting and didn’t sign up for anything and for a thank you for sitting through the meeting they gave us (my husband and I) two massages at $200 off each, so all we had to pay was $58. The massage was fantastic! I had Joy and he was wonderful. The whole experience was well worth it. Some people complained about the dress codes and the preferred status areas, but it didn’t effect our stay at all. Overall, we had a fabulous trip and loved our time!

The photos online are a much more flattering portrayal than reality. The hotel is very dated and is in desperate need of some TLC. There’s a constant smell around the property which may be due to the extreme humidity in July but it doesn’t excuse the stained bed sheets, mouldy ceilings and cracks in the doors. Staff weren’t overly attentive or even helpful at times, we arrived an hour and a half after check in time and the room still wasn’t ready. When we finally checked in, no one showed us to our room and we waited 40 minutes for our bags to be delivered. It wasn’t worth the price we paid.

Our flight was delayed and they canceled our reservation due to a no show no call. My husband and I called prior to inform the property. We showed up 2 days later and the resort didn’t have our room ready. When our room was ready, the f offered was not stocked and the TV didn’t work. Then, we sat on the patio and there was dried blood that has been there for awhile. This is the worst hotel to stay in. The pictures on the website is truly a false advertisement. Do not recommend staying here. The staff at the front are very inconsiderate.

This property was very inadequate in so many ways for the money. No hot water, substandard rooms, bad food, very far from town and always trying to sell you something. The employees were not very helpful ever. Lied about power being out on the island when it wasn't. This was not during the storm. Power was out many times, and we asked to leave to move to another hotel and they refused to refund us our remaining days left. We only made it 2 days then moved to the Westin for our remaining 5 days, which was fantastic. Would never return to Secrets.

If you are ever in Cozumel, please avoid this hotel. I didn’t believe the reviews I read and I paid dearly for that mistake. This hotel is the most unorganized hotel I’ve ever experienced in my entire life. We were there during the hurricane but never got any email to warn us prior to arriving. When we later heard about the hurricane coming, we continuously asked them about the emergency plan which they refused to share until July 4th afternoon when we were asked to all vacate our rooms. We eventually got a room for shelter but were told we had to be 5 people in the room with one bed and 3 pool chairs. I spent the night in a room on a pool chair considering how much we paid. We were told we weren’t allowed to some pools and some restaurants because we don’t have preferred even though we got rooms that were more expensive than preferred. The food was bad. Our room for the first 3 nights was bad. We paid for ocean view and barely saw the ocean. The room was old and tattered. Either Expedia or secret scammed us for the money we paid. This was the most horrible experience of my entire life and I will never be back to Cozumel ever again. I will honestly love to be refunded for this scam. When we asked the hotel if we could stay an extra night due to the hurricane, they told us they would charge us a lot per person a night and the room will not be ready till 6pm. The entire property was very old and ran down. Constant construction. Lack of consistent service. We have stayed at other Secrets prior, this place is very low quality. Below a 2 star resort. Took 5 days and call to corporate Hyatt to get a lack of AC issue in the room fixed. Shame on Hyatt for mudding their name with this very low quality resort.

Gohan restaurant food & staff excellent. Market Cafe’s breakfast really good. The captain Diana is very friendly & is very good at remembering faces.

Edgar the entertainment employees was fantastic and helped make the stay pleasant. This was our second time to this resort and I was upset to see how bad the buildings looked and the quality of food was really poor at aura and sunscape dreams did have some nice places. Overall happy with our visit
