"We had a wonderful stay; a great host and very welcoming. The scenery is breathtaking and serine, perfectly nestled within the trees. The front porch was our favorite spot for morning coffee and a good book. You’re a short distance away from downtown Hilo, hiking trails, waterfalls and a clear night sky. "This is a cute vintage home in Hilo. It does not have an oven or a dishwasher, which was totally fine for us. Kitchen didn’t have a lot supplies, but we weren’t cooking dinner there. Just making picnic lunches. No AC, but the breezes kept it very comfortable. Our contact was very responsive and gave us great suggestions of places to visit and eat. The neighborhood is very quiet. "The house is great. There was an issue which the owners took care of promptly. This place does not have a/c and that is likely my fault. I'm sure I just missed it in the listing. The house wasn't too warm during the day but cooled down and sleeping at night was perfect. It is close to Hilo town. It is close to a general store if you need something and walking distance from a beach that apparently has seals at it frequently. We did not see any this trip. We had the house to ourselves....

"We have stayed here before and once again it was perfect. This is true old time Hawaii at its best. We ate all the fresh fruit that was waiting for us. For me, sitting on front porch, feeling the trade wind and hearing the sound of the sugar cane leaves dancing in the wind is as close to heaven on earth as you can get. Especially if you are eating a Malasada from Tex and drinking a cup of coffee. Fairy and Nico are the sweetest cats ever. We love them so much! Nico even joined us for a walk down...

"I was super excited to stay at this property. The pluses...the Koy pond. The fish are amazing and love to eat. Also, the sounds at night from nature. Would have been nice to have a lounger in the sun room rather than just chairs. Not many other pluses. We tried to get connected to Internet. The welcome book didn't seem to match the house. The descriptions were off. There were at least 5 remotes but none of them did anything. Only one turned off and on the TV. TV was activated through Roku....

"My parents and I rented the cottage for four nights. This was absolutely perfect for our needs and we slept really well. We were able to park our rental car with no problem and the area is loaded with things to see, and do. Restaurants nearby, as well as shopping in town. Many of our stops were 3 to 7 minutes away from the property. This is a much better location than staying up by Volcano. Under 10 minutes to the airport but noise wasn't an issue. Staff was super friendly and flexible to meet our needs. Definitely would recommend to those in a small group that don't want to be separated by rooms in a hotel. "
