The location was quite good, near many bus lines, the subway, and many establishments and shopping. Although the bill was quite expensive for budget travelers, it was ultimately okay given the average prices in the city. The managers of the place were a really nice couple who tried their best to accommodate our needs. The room, albeit quite bland and simple, had many amenities that people expect for this price range, such as AC, TV, and fridge.
On the negative side, I cannot leave out the fact that there were some cockroaches in the room. I later understood that LA has this problem, but that's no reason why an establishment should have them inside their rooms. The other issue that we had was the cold: we visited in November, so it was quite cold in the evening, and not only the room wasn't well insulated, there wasn't enough bedding either. It's true that we could've asked for more, and that we decided against leaving the heating on because of the noise, but nevertheless, it was quite upsetting to be cold or have to wear extra clothes in bed.
