"I stayed at the property with girlfriends and our dogs for a girls weekend. The property was clean and had everything that we needed for the weekend (and more). We loved the air hockey and ping pong in the basement. The host was very nice and was easy to get ahold of. I would definitely stay here again."

"Cute house that was very clean. Check in was easy. Beds were comfortable. Overall a quiet neighborhood unless the train went by. Loved how accommodating Tom was with us bringing out dogs. Keurig was nice with plenty of pods for our stay. We would definitely stay here again"

"A great all-around experience. Lot's of room to relax, a nice big kitchen with a breakfast bar, and all a stone's throw from Starved Rock. I loved the balcony off the bedroom and the jacuzzi. The Grand Bear lodge has a great bar as well. Great restaurant options between Utica, Peru and Ottawa, or venture over to the Starved Rock state park lodge restaurant."

"We took a family weekend getaway out of the city to Starved Rock and stayed with this host. From the time of purchase through checkout, the host was accommodating and available. The description of the home was spot on and was stocked with all of the basic needs and more. The grill and fire pit were a huge hit. It’s a 5 minute drive to breakfast locations, ice cream shop, and a grocery store and 10 minute drive to starved rock. Our kids had so much fun playing monopoly, we made it a no electronic...

"We came to my daughter’s wedding from Washington (Mt Adam’s) , Iowa , Northern California, Southern California . First time to have all four grandchildren at the same time . It’s very private and we were welcomed after we were settled in. Very polite family . Thank you so much for bringing firewood . We never found the time for the pond for fishing but felt at home . Youngest grandson ran through the patio screen door after the incident my grandson learned how to replace screen in a door !!...

"This cottage is super cute, outfitted for fun on the lake. It's great for a couple with small kids. The stairs up to the loft are a bit treacherous but the bunkbeds are cute and comfy. The back patio is perfect for morning coffee or an evening glass of wine enjoying the sunset over the pond."

"We really enjoyed staying here. The owner was very nice and answered all our questions. We loved being right on the river and we caught a lot of fish (bass and big catfish). We drove to Starved Rock and Matthiessen State Park and went hiking there. We couldn't wait to get back to the cabin after hiking to relax. All the furniture, beds and bedding were very comfortable. The cabin is nicely decorated, beautiful wood furnishings and taxidermy. We would definitely stay here again!"

"Nice, roomy old house - great for two couples with plenty of room to spread out and relax after hiking with comfortable beds. Loved all the little touches - handwritten welcome note, toiletries in case you forget any and lots of seasonings and condiments in a fully stocked kitchen. Super close to Starved Rock and nice winery and breweries."

"We loved our little nook set back among the trees. Very clean, very quiet!. Every kitchen item from the coffee maker to the pans was nice! No junk that I typically see at rentals. The home was very nicely decorated too!"

"Great location for the water park, hikes and down town. Lots of games and fun things to do in the villa. You need to bring everything- shampoo, soap etc do come prepared even if for one night!"
