“Apparently it was an old newspaper, so that’s the theme of the hotel. The restaurant bar and hotel bar are lovely. There’s lots to do and see within a short walking distance. The staff, especially Tim Caban, Assistant Guest Services Manager, is excellent-top notch! He’s very professional, yet kind and caring. Marriott, you have an excellent employee and they are difficult to find. Marty, at the front door was also great. Remembered our names, was always there, pleasant and……

“We loved the location of this hotel. It’s also a very clean hotel with excellent staff. They could use a bigger laundry room and add another washer and dryer. Had to wait for a long time since they only had 1 washer and dryer set.”

“The hotel is pretty nice, but seems dated and geared towards older clientele. The staff were fine but seem very new and slow movers. No one was rude and everyone was fine if you spoke to them but they don't go out of their way or have any sense of urgency. The city surrounding the hotel is unfortunately experiencing high level of unhoused folks and public drug/meth use. It's very sad but be diligent if walking around especially in the Monument Square area. The food scene however is top notch!”

“Mark the driver and Crystal went above and beyond to help us during our 4 day stay. Chris, the weekday bartender, was engaging without being too chatty and gave us a personally recommended guide to Portland sites and restaurants that was spot on every time. The scent in the lobby was overpowering. My husband liked it. I found it offensive.”

“The staff were all very good. The in-house restaurant was surprisingly good, and the breakfast was excellent. The one thing that didn't work was the surprise $13. parking fee that was not included in the hotel cost. This is a hotel with its own parking lot. I have never paid a parking fee when staying at such a place and don't intend to again. It's not about the money, but the sleazy way they extracted another fee.”

“Do not stay here. I had to change rooms because the bathroom and beds and floors were filthy (pubic hairs, stains, food). The faucet on the sink was broken. We moved to a different room. The hvac unit did not work by beds in the second room. We stayed multiple nights and only received housekeeping service once. “the room is OK, big and clean. However,there is something "difference" in this hotel. 1. you have to borrow everything from the frontdesk, incluging coffee machine, hair dryer, cup ,dish. 2. there is no place for breakfast. you have to bring everything from the frp desk to your room. “This was simply an awful experience not only could we reach a live person on the phone prior to our trip, no return call then it got worse when we arrived no check in desk no one to greet us or answer any questions. We had to dial a # to let them know we arrived. Staff never to be seen again. Paid 300.00 for the night broken coffee maker, no batteries in spoke detector simply an awful experience ”
