Wonderful place.

Great place. Fantastic food. Room spacious and very clean. First rate service. Beach is beautiful, though some coral and pebbles in swimming area, so best to swim with shoes. Otherwise perfect.

Rundown and poorly managed, bad food

Pros: Great bread, great location, great pool.
Cons: Property desperately needs new management, buildings seriously need maintenance, staff need training not bullying (the cleaning girls weren't at fault
Location: Location was great. Beach was lovely. Activities were all booked out from the first to fifth & last day we were there so cant comment positively.
Water running through bathroom ceiling, reported daily but never fixed (ie they put towels on floor and wiped water from ceiling, light fitting and vent??? rather alarming and DANGEROUS). Ceiling showed evidence of long term water damage and was falling in places. Food was very poor... lettuce going black, cut tomatoes were obviously recycled leftovers, egg chef couldn't cook an egg, although perhaps the eggs were at fault, bacon chewy and mostly inedible. Very Indian cooking influence, but many of us don't like that, and would like some proper and fresh western style food. Fruit was mostly unripe, cut into strips and floating in water... then with flavour washed out & browned edges, we suspect it was cut up into smaller pieces for the fruit salad. Beautiful fresh bread. Air conditioning kept being turned down to 15 deg despite being asked NOT TO and condensation caused all our clothes to be wet, floors dangerously slippery etc. Booked wake-up call didn't happen, booked luggage pickup also didn't happen. We noticed adjoining room had the furniture replaced while we were there, probably because of the water problems. Desperately needs money & new Management if they want the place to survive.

Pros: Hotel a bit shabby and out dated. Parts of the hotel are not open to all guests which is not made clear at the beginning. Very expensive to eat if you

We had a very plesant stay at this hotel. The staff was extremely courteous. The beach is good and well maintained. The rooms are in very good condition. The soothing sounds of the beach area are music to the ears which can be heard in all the rooms. Totally recommended..

Honeymoon in Mauritius

Absolutely amazing honeymoon experience. By far the best service and friendliest staff you could ever wish to have in a hotel. Stayed in a few 5 star resorts but none compare to this hotel for these reasons. Would highly recommend.

Nice resort, not the best beach

Pros: Room, facilities.
Cons: Restaurants menu, water in restaurants should be free (since you cannot drink tap water), more umbrellas near the pool, late checkout too expensive.
Location: Location is bad. Pointe aux piments is no real village, just a few poor houses. Also no real supermarket, the village is too small for that.
I have very much enjoyed my stay at this resort. This is not to say everything is perfect, but overall I'd go back. The room (deluxe with ocean view and balcony, 3rd floor) was excellent and cleaned every day to high standards. I had half board and could choose between 4 different restaurants every night (was even possible to eat in more than one each night). We liked the most the Indian restaurant, followed by the buffet. The La Faya restaurant has a very limited a la carte menu and generally was not our choice, however ambiance and service were great. The pool was very nice with one issue, just few umbrellas available and believe me it is hard to stay under the sun of Mauritius for more than 60 consecutive minutes: they really have to bring some more. The resort is very nice with a beautiful path which we used to do every night to get 20 min walk after dinner in the resort (given that at Pointe aux Piments there is literally nothing to do). On the negative side, and this is not something I can blame the hotel management, is the sea: it is full of rocks and you simply cannot enter the water without shoes. I then learned from a taxi driver who took us to the airport that the beach there is artificial: they brought some sand and lay it over the rocks. It explains. One year ago I was at the Marveille beach in Grand Bay and there the beach and sea was just outstanding: on the other had, the resort and rooms were not nearly as nice. Also water at restaurant should be free.

Dear Andrea, We greatly appreciate the time you put into recording your comments. We are glad to read that you enjoyed the room allocated to you and the restaurant facilities. Regarding the condition of the beach, please take note that our beach is a natural beach. We do have some rocks on our 1 km long beach but we also do have sandy areas. The swimming zone is one of those. There is some tiny coral here and there but not to the extent of not providing a pleasant experience. For your information, we are part of the Balaclava Marine Conservation Park and as such we have no right to touch the natural resources. As all beaches in Mauritius are public, we actually would be able to be prosecuted by removing natural rocks from the seashores. With regards to the umbrellas, thank you for your observation.
