Nice hotel lacking a few thingsPosted Jun 29, 2016
Pros: We really enjoyed the employees and the fact the hotel is an older building with a lot of character.
Cons: Bathroom needed a lot of help. Some kind of small shelf and hooks for towels would be great.
Location: We came our for the San Diego Zoo. But there is the Gaslamp district that has tons of shops and many other things nearby.
We loved the room, it was spacious and clean. Loved having a kitchen so we could make our own meals if we wanted too. The bathroom needed some work though. First there was nowhere to hang towels and there was no area to lay out makeup, toothbrushes etc..Makes it really hard to function when getting ready. It wasn't lacking any mirrors in the bathroom, the entire room was surrounded in mirrors. The other issue is there was a pretty low window in the shower that had a simple set of blinds trying to give privacy. If you did not close them just so, there were big cracks to the outside. The shower door didn't latch either, nor was there a seal at the bottom to keep water from going everywhere. The couch was really long and able to be converted into two twin size pull out beds, which was nice. However the mattresses were less than comfortable. The room was decorated nicely and very clean. They definitely provided enough linens in the kitchen and the bathroom. It was also stocked well with other things like dish soap etc...Parking is also an issue. Other than the sides of the street which was always full, you are forced to use their valet service. So if you needed to just run in for a short while, you still have to mess with dropping off your car with valet and then waiting for it again. It was a $15 flat fee plus tips every time we picked it up from valet. That can add up in cost. The valets were very nice though.

Will Stay here EVERY time.Posted May 21, 2016 on Hotels
The entire stay from start to finish was absolutely perfect. We were greeted immediately by a valet who was quite attentive and polite. The check-in process was smooth and friendly with Robin. The concierge was very helpful and gave excellent dining recommendations. The room was AMAZING and had plenty of space for our family. We had a small kitchen, which we did not utilize, but would have been convenient. The room was so clean and the television was up to date and maneuverable. The housekeeping was so welcoming and left candy each day. The rooftop terrace provided great views. There is a convenient store across from Spruce and 5th. 24-hour security who are actively walking around. The valet is $15/ night, which is a steal. You can get free parking, if you can find it. Excellent proximity to Balboa Park including the San Diego Zoo. Overall, wonderful experience and we will stay here every time we are in San Diego.

Pros: décor and quirky (in a positive way) rooms; feel of old luxury. the staff was great.
Cons: all good
Location: plenty of restaurants nearby, but many close at 8:30 so get out in time. The Zoo is a mile walk, but their parking is free (to offset the $50 entry)
nice staff, nice (albeit quirky) room - spacious & comfortable. laundry in basement if you need it. lots of restaurants nearby. we also parked on 6th street, a couple hundred feet from the building, and avoided the valet fees...very safe.

Great Location!Posted Apr 4, 2016 on Hotels
The Inn at the Park is perfectly located by Balboa bark and many restaurants and nightlife opportunities. Great place for a few days if you are willing to splurge.

Cute hotel, GREAT location and neighborhood.Posted Mar 30, 2016 on Hotels
Popped in for a quick last minute stay at this neighborhood fixture. Previously an independent, old hotel, the Park Inn was acquired by Wyndham and since become a busy destination. The hotel was completely updated while keeping its old school San Diego charm. The rooms are clean, freshly painted and updated with small, full kitchens and a 10 cup coffee maker. Downsides are- it's an older hotel with wooden floors and some noise can be apparent from the residents above. Default internet service is almost unusable (I'm in IT; the hotel was fully occupied during my stay, but still unless this was a blatant ploy for users to opt for the pricier service, they need upgraded internet service).

Great hotel across the parkPosted Mar 14, 2016
I enjoyed this hotel very much! The staff was friendly and helpful. I didn't know it was a timeshare but that was not a big deal. They did discuss it with us but we let them know that we were not interested and we did not receive any phone calls or letters under the door. The cleanliness was great! I loved setup of the room and decor. It had everything we needed including a blender & mouthwash! Balboa Park is right across the street and the bus stops were quick to walk to, which was nice because we didn't have a car. I will definitely be staying here again!
