“I really enjoyed my stay at Black Bear Lodge in Slade, Kentucky. The location was perfect—it's centrally located and made it easy to explore Red River Gorge, Natural Bridge State Resort Park, and the surrounding attractions. The room was simple but comfortable. I especially appreciated that they didn't skimp on the blankets, which made for a cozy night's sleep after a day of hiking. The only downside was that my room didn't have an iron or ironing board, so keep that in mind if you need……

“For the price, it was far better than the competitors in the area. We stayed at another place in Morehead for the price the trip before and it was NOT good. This place was clean, convenient, and checkin/out was easy!”

“I don’t have a problem staying in barebones motels/hotels and that’s what I needed for this trip. The room was clean but the hallway needed some work. The secondary latch was loose on the inside. My problem arose as we were trying to sleep. Someone was going in and out of a door near our room all night. I’m assuming it was outside. I barely slept because it made me very uneasy. I had my elderly mom with me so I wanted to keep her safe. It looked like they were attempting to update some things……

“Stay was okay. Building was clean and everything worked well. Location was much further from red river gorge than expected, about 45 minutes to 1 hour 15 minutes one way to a trail. Bed was very hard. Hot tub was nice. Overall, decent if you dont mind the sleeping conditions and the drive but for us it wasnt worth the cost ”

“i stayed in this cabin to enjoy hiking in the gorge. The cabin was very clean and comfortable. It had all the amenities needed for the term of my stay. Checking in and out was very convenient. Communication with the host was very accommodating. It was a bit of a drive each day to and from my hiking destinations but i would not necessarily allow that to hinder my decision to return to this cabin in the future.”
