“We loved the rainforest that surrounded the tree cottage. The cottage itself was cozy and inviting. The dehumidifier and heater were a nice touch in the humid and cooler climate; the kitchen was great for preparing our own meals; very clean; friendly and accommodating host.”

“The grounds were amazing. We were allowed to pick our own fruits like papaya, sapote, banana, mountain apple, avocado, cacao, etc. The property was clean and cozy, and the outdoor shower was very nice. Only downside was a couple of loud coqui frogs at night, and it was a bit of a drive to Hilo.”

“What a unique place to stay! We thoroughly enjoyed this location. It is a very private location in the middle of dense vegitation. We slept so well here listening to the sounds of the forest. The location makes for a great base to explore Volcanoes NP.”

“We absolutely loved the property - it was a peaceful, tropical retreat. The guest house was super clean and very well provisioned and the grounds were beautifully landscaped. There were pineapples, papayas, plumeria, orchids and so much more. It was so relaxing to sit on the lanai in the evening with a cool drink and listen to the sounds of the tree frogs and the burbling of the koi pond.”

“We had a great stay. Pictures represent the property well. The place is about 20 minutes from Pahoa city-center (if that’s helpful). Met Sean who shared some insights about the area and local cuisine. Ashley was great at communicating and checking in with us via VRBO messages. “This is a beautiful place and quite clean. They also have a cache of masks, snorkel, chairs and other beach items which is helpful. We used this cottage as base camp to visit Volcanoes NP. It is a good option if you have a rental car. They don't call it the "Big Island" for nothing. There is a lot of windshield time when traveling the area. My only constructive criticism of this property, as well as almost all other VRBOs, is to reduce the unnecessary furniture, bookshelves, and tchotchkes that...

“We had a wonderful stay at La Cappana. The historic cabin is in a fantastic location in Volcano town right near the Kilauea Lodge with its fantastic restaurant and the Swap Meet at the community center, and a quick and easy drive to the best of Volcano National Park. Even though it is so close to everything Volcano has to offer, the property feels very private with lots of native plants and trees. We enjoyed watching all the birds with our morning coffees We had an added bonus of visiting...

“I had the most wonderful stay in this beautiful cottage. The kitchen was amazingly equipped and the bed was incredibly comfy! The back lanai was a place I never wanted to leave and the sweet area next to cottage was a perfect place to hang with my son and family when they came over to visit me. A very sweet neighborhood and I loved falling to sleep hearing the deep ocean roar and the incredible symphony of koki frogs and crickets. I cannot wait to return soon! ”

“The cottage was fantastic. Had all the amenities. It was in a quiet neighborhood, with a view of a golf course, but easy driving distance to the Volcanoes National Park and the town of Volcano. We were very busy seeing the various attractions of the island, such as waterfalls, the black sand beach and South Point, and hiking in the National Park. We wished we could have spent more time at the cottage. Highly recommend this property and would definitely stay here again. ”
